2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Perfectly Situated Close To DC north of Del Ray

Summary: Perfect space for long or short term stays. Two queen beds and two queen sleeper sofas; outdoor screened in porch, organic garden; off-street parking for 2 (or 3 Minis); wi-fi and cable TV, and pet friendly. Close to tons of public transit.

Our house is in the Arlandria (Arlington/Alexandria border) area known as Chirilagua or North Del Ray. Relatively close to two metro stations it is surrounded by cute (Del Ray - great local music, local delicatessens and delicious El Salvadorean food!), essential (Potomac Yards- what's better than an evening stroll to the movie theater and grocery shopping?) and fashionable (Crystal City with its own ice skating rink and mall). We are nestled between multiple bus and trolley-lines and are within easy biking distance (we are right on 400 miles of bike trails that can take you anywhere you want to go) into the the heart of the District, the Orange line corridor and Old Town Alexandria.

Both rooms have queen beds. The master has reading area, a walk in shower and dual sink bathroom while the 2nd bedroom is a cozy multi-use room with a bathroom across the hall. Full access kitchen with gas stove. Enclosed deck with open back patio area with fire pit.

We host animals but the 2nd room has been kept allergen/pet free and the majority of the house has wood floors to reduce potential issues.

Off-street parking for two cars (and potentially three if you angle things correctly!)

Pretty much perfect.

Why Ryan Wismer chose Alexandria

We bought this home because of our deep involvement in the local community of Chirilagua, the fun of being able to easily walk to so many great locations within Del Ray and north Alexandria and the access to great public transportation. I use the metro or bike into downtown DC for work everyday and our location makes it a relatively stress free commute or easy bike ride to any of the major work or play hubs.

For long term stays we can continue the standard cleaning service (at cost) at whatever regular interval is preferred. This is of course our preference (more cleaning makes for easier cleaning!) but beyond our minimum requirement of once per month further cleanings would be at your discretion.

Better than the pictures!

This place was awesome! It was the third rental house we stayed at on this road trip, and by far, the best! Adorably decorated! So homie! Everything you need! Location and ease of access to D.C. was perfect! We stayed six nights and it felt like home! No complaints whatsoever!

Questionable Building Code Compliance

Our family did not stay at this property because upon our arrival we discovered it was unsafe. A smoke detector was missing in the hallway ceiling, leaving exposed electrical wiring hanging from the ceiling. All smoke detectors on the circuit for the entire house were inoperative. Additionally, this house has gas appliances, yet no carbon monoxide nor explosive gas detectors were installed. Because this property was not properly maintained, we had no choice but to relinquish our reservation. This placed us in significant hardship having to book a last-minute stay in a nearby hotel during Washington, DC’s peak tourist season.

Owner's Response: This is a misrepresentation of the situation. Upon the arrival of the visitors at a little after 6PM on July 18th, they called and said the smoke detectors were not working correctly. I immediately let them know I was on my way to resolve the situation. Not knowing exactly what was wrong, I stopped by a store and bought all new fire and additional CO2 detectors just to ensure I could fix whatever was wrong. Upon arrival, I found that one of the three ceiling smoke detectors had disconnected from the ceiling mount and the attachment wiring was visible. The guest immediately noted their desire to cancel their stay due to safety reasons. When asked for details they noted--in addition to the detector--that the cable box was resting on a rug which they felt was a fire hazard. I immediately moved the cable box 5 inches so that it no longer rested on the rug, reconnected the offending alarm, replaced the other two with new ones, and installed a separate CO2 detector. All were operational within 30 minutes of my arrival at the house. The guests seemingly had already decided they did not feel comfortable with the house based on the lack of a gas detector. Unfortunately they booked the house knowing that we did not have a gas detector. Before arrival they asked about the detector and alarm set up: "We are staying at your property July 18-28. I have a few questions. Is the air conditioning central or window units? Are there smoke, gas, and/or carbon monoxide detectors in the home? Is the range gas or electric? Is there a security system at the property? How do we get in touch with you if there is a problem during our stay? Are you close by? Thanks." To which we replied clearly that we only had smoke detectors: "Thanks for following up with me. There is central air and a gas stove in the home. As well as smoke defectors, as required by law and our own efforts to keep you safe. There is no security system. You can call me at ### if you have any problems during your stay. I am a mile away. Is there anything else I can do to help you prepare?" We have had six years of successful rentals with no safety issues and we take the safety and accuracy of our listing very seriously.

family, pet friendly fun

We stayed at this home in a charming area for a week and 1/2 and it was perfect for our family of 4 + dog. Very comfortable beds! We could walk to many restaurants and parks. Overall, it was just what we needed ❤️️

Perfect place to stay . Close to the attractions by car or metro . Very nice neighborhood.

Comfortable house well located for transport links

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable house which was very well located for transport links. We enjoyed exploring DC, Old Town Alexandria, Great Falls & Mount Vernon as well as taking in a film at the cinema a short walk away. Pentagon City shopping mall is a 5 minute car journey. The carpet in the main bedroom was the worse for wear and unfortunately there was less furniture inside and out, than in the advertised photos. The house was located on a slightly rundown-looking street but it was fairly quiet and the area itself was pleasant.

Great location to bike trail.

Family friendly location. My grandson went to the park at the end of the street in the early evening and had fun. Excellent location to bike trail. I knew the bike trail was close, but it was great. A block and a half away.
