Tranquility and fun for the whole family!
The cabin was exactly as pictured; beautiful, comfortable, clean, and inviting. The view off the back deck of the lake and the mountains was the best part! While sitting on the deck in the evenings we always saw wildlife, mostly deer, but we also saw a fox, and heard some other wildlife. We spent a lot of time down at the lake enjoying the view, fishing, and walking along the shore. We were there before Lake Koocanusa was ready for swimming but I could see that in a week or 2 it would have been a great place for swimming once it was filled. We went swimming in Surveyors Lake (owners recommendation) only about a 10 minute drive away and would highly recommend it - it was quiet (no motorized boats) and had great swimming. There were painted turtles all around the lake and that was really neat neat to see - our 3 year old really enjoyed it! The weather was wonderful while we were there and there were NO mosquitos which was a nice change for us. A couple other highlights of the property were air conditioning and wifi. Everything was perfect during our stay and we would highly recommend it to friends and family. It would be great for everyone including families. The cabin is about 30 minutes from Fernie and a few other smaller towns nearby, but we rarely wanted to leave the cabin other than for groceries as it was so peaceful. The Baynes Lake farmer's market on Saturdays was also really great and only about a 5-10 minute drive. Lot's of great fishing, hiking, and wildlife nearby. The cabin is located very close to the Montana border if you feel up for venturing down south. There is also a great ice cream stand not far from the cabin which was a nice treat one evening! The owners were outstanding with any questions or recommendations and the house was fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay from kitchen gadgets, small appliances, towels, and bed linens. The beds were also extremely comfortable. The hike down to the lake could be tough for someone with limited mobility as it is a hill, but it is also the reason the view from the cabin is so wonderful as it sits on top of the hill overlooking everything.

Lovely cabin at koocanusa
Lovely stay at koocanusa. We stayed here for Easter weekend 2016 and were made to feel very welcome and the cabin was very homely. The owners were very accommodating and very helpful. The weather was great so we spent time out on the big deck. There is a fire pit (which was just being built) but we were able to use. This is a great cabin and we would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks again to Bev and John :)

Christmas Getaway 2015
Renting this home for our family's Christmas vacation was a wonderful experience. It is truly a beautiful home. Quality is everywhere you look. The location was quite stunning. The home is situated to take advantage of the lay of the land so that even though you are nestled in the woods you have a wonderful view of the layout of the lake. A short walk brings you to a bluff and some stairs to Lake Koocanusa. It's jaw-dropping. The homeowners were wonderful to deal with and immediately make you feel like an honored guest. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for having us in your home. Everything was accurately represented or better! You have a very beautiful home and it suited our family perfectly. The location is jaw dropping. That lake is just amazing. We would love to return sometime in the summer. We had an amazing Christmas dinner in that gorgeous kitchen.
