About Tyler Chen
I am a musician, designer and media producer, and my wife, Chanda, works in the field of International Education. We love traveling, eating/cooking great food, kayaking, listening to live music, spending time outdoors and meeting new people!
Tyler Chen purchased this House in 2009
Why Tyler Chen chose Vancouver
This house was my first house! When I bought it, it was not much to look at.. in fact, my friends and family laughed because it was in such bad shape! But I could see its raw potential hiding behind the worn carpet, sagging roof, and dated paint and wall/ceiling texture. My wife, Chanda and I began dating a year later, and she joined my labor of love on the house as we remodeled the house room by room, restoring the beautiful coved ceilings, arched doorways, and old-growth American Cherry hardwood floors that had been covered by carpet for decades. We completely gutted and remodeled the bathroom and kitchen, replaced the roof, furnace, and water heater, and even updated most of the plumbing and wiring! In March of 2015, just as we were getting to a point where we felt the house was close to completion, Chanda was offered an amazing job in Seattle, so we made the hard decision to leave Vancouver. We love the Portland and Vancouver area SO much that we decided to keep the house as our own unconventional vacation home! This led us to realize that other people might love staying here too! We hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do!

Excellent place to stay near Portland.
So close to everything in Portland and Vancouver. Only a 15 min drive down to Portland for anything you want to do there. It was cozy and had everything you could need for your stay
Perfect and as described
Used this for a quick three day stay while going to a conference in the area. Was exactly what I needed! Easy to check in, clean and cozy.
Short visit to Vancouver
We loved this little house - railroad tracks are right behind the house and we loved the sound of the trains - it was never any bother! The kitchen has everything you could wish for - nice big coffee pot - everything was great! Plenty of room for 2 couples. We will be back again!!
Great Place to Stay
This a great house with a great location. Close to everything nearby and well kept. Made for the perfect home base in between hiking trips. Would definitely stay here again.
This place is perfect. The price, location.. you really can’t beat it. This is the second time we’ve stayed here and enjoyed it even more this time! Thanks :)
I probably wouldn't have done this - I'd originally booked a hotel - except my brother had rented this place before and basically told me I had to do it. And? After two days in a car, in the heat, we opened the door to this cool and inviting house, and found everything we needed right there. The living room couches are comfy, there's lots of light for reading, and there's a bookcase full of books and DVDs.
