A lovely home in a delightful village
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a real getaway location set in the mountains. The scenery is stunning and we found lots to do without having to travel miles from Montejaque. There are loads of pleasant walks and some fascinating caves to explore. It is a bird watchers paradise - if so inclined.
The warm weather compared to Scotland for this time of the year (over 30 degrees every day) was unbelievably welcome! The property has a lovely comfortable feel to it with plenty of books and magazines to read. The small TV was not put on once! A hair dryer was not in the spec but was there if you wanted to save some baggage space.
Loads of room for two people (and more if needed). The kitchen is small and does not have an oven or dishwasher but this was no hardship. The roof terrace is small and accessed via narrow steps. it is not large enough for a sun lounger but with seats and superb views we enjoyed the space. There is a sheltered yard if you wish to escape the sun from time to time.
Be warned that the property is at the top of the village and the streets are very steep. Car parking is quite a distance away. Make sure you hire as small a car as you can get away with. The streets in the villages can be quite a tight squeeze to progress down. The many twists and turns on the mountain roads make if quite a white knuckle ride. Bars and restaurants in Montejaque offered good variety. If your Spanish is poor or non existent you may struggle to find many people working within them speaking English - our problem, not theirs! Everyone was very friendly. The owner Elke is German and speaks very good English. A local pool would have been welcome as the municipal one was closed for the season. If you want a real authentically rural Spanish holiday experience, look no further. We were reluctant to leave and return to the fast lane of UK living.
Andalusia - beautiful holiday home near Ronda, on the route of the 'PUEBLOS BLANCOS' (white villages).
In the middle of the natural park 'Parque natural de Llibar' in the Serrania de Ronda lies the climatic health resort Montejaque.
The historic restored holiday property, consisting of several casitas, is located in the old upper village center. In the private patio, with tapas and wine, or on a roof terrace you can enjoy the idyllic Andalusian village scenery and the mountain panorama in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Excellent hiking trails lead the guest through the beautiful landscape. Excursions to the surrounding historical sights (Ronda, Sevilla, Cadiz, Granada) can be excellently arranged from here. The village itself offers a lot of variety. Numerous tapas bars, restaurants, small shops for daily shopping, and a beautifully located swimming pool contribute to the recovery.
