What makes this Lodge unique
This setting is on a 6,500 acre ranch occupied by 13 families, so you will not likely see other people, hear vehicular traffic, or your neighbor's choice of music. This vacation rental is for the 40 acres only. All other properties and roads on the ranch are private, but you will have thousand-acre views! Look for sightings of elk, deer, pronghorn antelope, Rocky Mountain big horn sheep, eagles (bald and golden), chipmunks, ground squirrels, tree squirrels (gray and Abert's), and whistle-pigs (marmots). The shy ones are bears, cougar, lynx, bobcat, and badger. Most likely you will not see any of the last group, but they are out here and you might! Have your cameras ready. :-) The setting is very much like a national park except there are no other visitors, no developed trails, no ranger stations, etc. This is a unique experience.

Lovely place to spend some quiet time
We spent the weekend at the Tipi and came home rested and rejuvenated. My teenage boys enjoyed their first 'glamping' (real beds in a tent) experience. We usually backpack or camp on the ground style. The light-lined paths added a magical feel to the nights and made it feel extra special. We got to watch a herd of deer in our campsite for about a 45 minutes one early morning. Great way to start our day. The stars were amazing. All around a great getaway.
They may need to reassess the toilet situation if they continue to have a good volume of guests. Other than that - it was a lovely experience and just what we needed to kick off the cold weather season. Thank you for the hospitality!
Better than expected! It was such a beautiful place.
This spot is perfectly laid out with incredible views. We had a great time relaxing there. Such a cool tipi- way bigger than expected.
The pictures do not do it justice! Even more stunning to be there!
Being at 9,000 ft. elevation in the southern Rockies in a campsite sleeping in a teepee was a bucket list moment for us!! We saw some wildlife, smelled the pine and cedar and just enjoyed the gorgeous views and sunsets. The setting is surreal! The campsite has different areas, teepee, firepit with chairs and log stumps, outdoor shower, bathroom enclosure, and picnic/cooking area. The paths to each area are lined with wood branches and at night the solar lights illuminate the paths and is so pretty. The teepee itself is roomy and felt very secure. The second night it rained a bit and the winds were strong, but we felt secure and stayed dry. The mattresses were super-comfy, the linens were soft and the comforter/blankets kept us super warm. The outdoor shower was a fun experience. The toilet enclosure had everything you could need. Unfortunately, there was a burn ban during our stay so we were not able to have a fire in the firepit. The hosts do provide many amenities, but double check before your stay as the nearest grocery store is approximately 45 minutes away and you probably do not want to do the drive back in to town for a forgotten item. The hosts live on the property and met us when we arrived to show us around. All around a great stay where we made lifelong memories!!
The Royal Gorge area is scenic and suited for individuals, families, and groups seeking outdoor activities and relaxing in a quieter atmosphere of years gone by.
Throughout the year there community sponsored events in addition to whitewater rafting, zip lines, helicopter rides, hunting, golf, gold medal fishing, horse back riding, hunting, mountain and scenic bike trails, jeep tours, museums, wildlife viewing, and rock climbing.
We have recommended activities that you should review for this area.
