Open views from the private terraces - only overlooked by the neighbouring olive grove and mountains. Parking directly outside, unlike many similar properties. Free wifi coverage throughout property and terraces. There is a large, split-level living/dining/kitchen with great views to the rear. Both bedrooms are upstairs, with a large family bathroom. Outside is a small laundry area, dining terrace, jacuzzi terrace and shower room and toilet.

Hi - we are Laurie and Brenda Mellor, on the cusp of retirement, keen on music, cricket, food, lovely places, travel (we visit India regularly and have enjoyed trips to Uganda, Gambia and Guyana amongst others). We currently work in financial services, which is all about people, not numbers, as is commonly supposed. We love hosting people at our little house in Spain and try to make it feel as much like home as possible. We visit at least twice a year to make sure everything is up to scratch. Got 2 boys, who are great fun and keep us on our toes.

Why Brenda Mellor chose Montejaque
We were looking for somewhere away from the coast, which was just too expensive and over-developed. Ronda was a real draw, so we looked at property close by and were shown a small flat in Montejaque to begin with. We also looked at places near Arriate, but we were already smitten with this friendly village and its fantastic location. For us, it has the perfect combination of village and rural life, yet within reach of a real centre, with all the facilities you could need. We hear Spanish spoken more than English and life moves at a civilised pace. The house was a mess when we bought it - two large outbuildings (allegedly the kitchen and bathroom!!) stood (just about!) where the dining terrace and the jacuzzi terrace are now and the interior was gloomy and unloved. How times have changed!
What makes this House unique
There's no doubt that the decision to install a jacuzzi has been the right one. It just adds that something extra - whether in winter (how lovely to sit in the hot tub after a crisp winter day's walking, to ease tired legs) or summer (cooling off in the plunge pool with a drink, a book and a friend). It has sometimes been a nightmare (regular maintenance from Kevin has reduced problems to a minimum now) but overall has been a great investment. We are also really pleased that we decided to buy in this particular street. Because of the mountainous terrain, our street manages to link the main square at one end and almost complete wilderness at the other PLUS you can park in our road (rare in the older part of the village). No mountain climbing just to reach the house with your luggage!

Lovely place in a great location
We loved Montejaque. Its a great location, near enough to everything. Lovely bars and restaurants in the village, and the locals seemed friendly. We were there at the end of June. The house was great. Lovely little patio for brunch and dinner in the sun. It was super quiet, private, and secluded (it backs onto olive groves with a view of the mountain, and the neighboring houses don't look down onto the back). Parking situation was great..there is a road that goes round the side of the village to the parking area, so you can avoid the narrow lanes and tight corners, and keep your rental car deposit safe:) Definitely recommend both the house and the village.
Lovely property in idealic village
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the welcome from Jill, the very generous welcome pack of groceries, the lovely house, the warm welcome from everyone in the village to the host of places to visit.

Despite being a little tricky to find( trust the map they give and you'll be fine). We loved our stay here. Had everything you could ask for and more. Very responsive when booking and if we had any enquiries while we were there.
The bars in the town are sporadic in their opening days/hours so take advantage while you see them open.
Would def recommend to others we were two couples and found everything we wanted. We would return in the future.

A wonderful find
After two weeks in the bustle of Málaga and Granada, it was lovely to come to Montejaque for a different kind of holiday. The house was just as advertised, nicely-equipped kitchen, very comfy beds, and a hot tub which was perfect on cool nights. If you like walking, you can go out the door and strike out in any direction and have a walk with superb views (don't miss the Montejaque Mirador!). The house comes equipped with terrific books describing any number of walks in the area. In such a small village, there were still several bars and restaurants, or little grocery stores so you can cook at home. Best of all, everyone you see smiles and says "Hola!". A great choice.
So pleased you enjoyed your time here in this special part of Spain! Hope we can host you again some time - so much to do and see in the area. Wine-tasting tours, vulture-feeding centres, Roman and Arab remains, etc etc etc.
Peaceful home in a quiet village
This property is as described with a great view of the mountain out the back patio. The life of the town going on around you is part of the charm, but the home is very quiet and peaceful when you come in. La Casita and Molino (the latter in Benaojan-2 km away) are very good restaurants, and the pubs in the Plaza are great in the evening. Road access is good for traveling to other White Hill Towns in this area of Spain. We easily traveled to Ronda, Jerez, San Pedro de Alcantera, Grazelema, and Zahara. It was always good, however, to leave the tourists behind and come home to Montejaque.

picturesque and charming
Lovely place. Optional darkness by closing the window shutters and putting the fans on helps immensely, the back yard a real sun trap and spa is welcome relief from the heat. 44o when we were there. Welcome gifts are a nice touch, thank you. Could benefit from a bigger tv as when the ceiling fan was on full we had to turn the volume up to max, if you don't want to eat out every night be prepared to go shopping regularly as the standard fridge holds only a little in the ice compartment, the house really needs a fridge/freezer. Also don't sleep with the windows open as the dozens of dogs kept in disgraceful conditions at the end of the road (not Brenda's dogs obviously) have a tendency to burst into communal barking sessions at any given opportunity. The way these dogs are kept really upset me so be prepared if you have any compassion. Anyway, the square offers a lovely place to chill out, highly recommended the restaurant in the middle. Go to Ronda for shopping and Zahara for amazing views. I would definitely go again if the townsfolk looked after their animals with a shred of decency and even if one person did enough to get them moved we could have had the windows open at night. Spain is still "catching up" on animal welfare issues sadly, mainly due to the extreme poverty in recent history of much of Andalucia. But things are changing for the better, although perhaps not as quickly as we would like!
At the moment, we don't have room for a larger freezer but will certainly consider this addition if it would be popular.
We hope we can persuade you to come again some time to explore this lovely area ....
