Perfect for two
Jack’s Cottage may well be small but yet it’s perfectly formed which is decorated and finished to a very good standard.
This perfect hide away is nestled in the very pretty village of Longnor where we enjoyed breakfast in Jack’s garden (fresh provisions can be purchased only seconds away at Longnor General Store) cosy evenings curled up on the couch watching TV and we had great fun exploring the surrounding areas with little or difficulty due to its central location.
Having enjoyed a good long walk, or for that matter a good nights sleep what could be better than to treat yourself to invigorating shower...? Jack’s Cottage has it covered.
And If being a god or goddess in the kitchen is not your thing, fear not as there are several rather good eateries within spitting distance of your front door. The fish & chip shop literally at the end of the street is not to be missed, diagonally across the market square you will find Cobbles Cafe for a terrific bacon butty or full English breakfast which will set up up for a days walking, then virtually next door you will find Merchants House for some relaxed daytime or evening dining.
Our only regret is that we didn’t feel that the weather cold enough to light up the fire, but then it’s a reason to return not that we need one.
Until next time...
Perfect base in Peak District for a couple
Jacks cottage is a perfect place to base yourself in to explore the Peak District National Park. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. We loved the fire even in July. Although we ate in most evenings, Longnor has a couple of pubs and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Jack's Cottage! The Peak District is right on the doorstep and as you say Longnor has pubs and restaurants and handy shops all within walking distance - and the locals are very friendly too! Thank you for your 5 star review! Mary
A quaint cottage, comfortable and very well equipped. An ideal location for exploring the wonderful Peak District.
A little gem in Longnor
We loved staying at Jacks Cottage. It was immaculate and cosy. We really appreciated the extra touches and the wine, chocs and milk in the fridge. It felt like a well loved home. Longnor is a great base for exploring the area. We will definitely book again as we visit the area every year. Thank you!
A little gem!
We had a delightful stay in this lovely cottage. Despite the awful weather the cottage was warm and cosy! Mary, the owner was very friendly and had thoughtfully left a bottle of wine and some chocolates in the cottage for us when we arrived. The village of Longnor was very friendly and we enjoyed fish and chips, coffee and cake at Cobbles cafe and a lovely meal at Merchants House. The scenery around Longnor and the surrounding countryside is outstanding with plenty to see and do. We will be back soon!
Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Jack's Cottage and made the most off all the local 'eateries' in the village! As well as being a friendly village surrounded by glorious scenery, the local shops, restaurants and pubs make it a great base for visiting the Peak District. Thank you for your lovely review. Till next time! Mary
Lovely weekend getaway!
Jack's Cottage was the perfect bolthole for a relaxed weekend in the Peaks! It is so lovingly restored and the finishing touches - such as a bottle of wine and chocolates upon arrival, a pint of milk in the fridge and the fluffy robes - made it even more special.
Longnor is a small but beautiful village with everything you need within close proximity plus the views and walks around are perfect for those wanting to get some fresh air!
Would definitely recommend Jack's Cottage!
