Big Valley Ranch's Log Cabin sits hilltop on our 1000 acre property. Fifty + miles of trails are yours to discover on foot or by mountain or fat bike, snow shoe, or horseback. The Log Cabin is one of four homes on Big Valley Ranch and features two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, living room, patio with dining area, and it's very own rock formed fire pit. The rustic cabin decor and windows in every room reminds you whether inside or out, you are surrounded by nature. Our cabin has one bedroom located on the first floor with a walk out to the back yard patio. The second bedroom is a loft on the second floor accessible by a permanent ladder and overlooks the dining and kitchen area. There is a brand new heating and air conditioning unit which makes this property usable year-round. There is a wood burning stove in the living room as well as a flat screen TV. If the rain brings you inside, enjoy some board or card games or catch a game on ESPN. But when the weather is nice, there is plenty to enjoy outside from the trellis to the trails! We are a bring your own horse facility, so we do not currently provide horses. We also do not allow hunting or motorized vehicles/toys on the trails. We are a short drive from Governor Dodge State Park, where you can have fun on your own equipment if desired. We do have plenty of outdoor games such as bags, frisbee golf, crochet available to you. For winter fun, the giant hill right out front is perfect for sledding or snow shoe at your leisure. Please note our trails are closed from October 15th to December 1st for hunting season. The owner is a local man who resides in Oregon, WI. He purchased the land now known as Big Valley Ranch several years ago in his own quest to bring the west closer to home. An outdoor lover has great appreciation for the property and natural beauty if brings with it's wildlife that can be seen all over the 1000 acres. The photos simply do not do it justice. The true appreciation for the land and homes come from each visitor's personal experience on the property. Jenni purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Jenni chose
This cabin was purchased with the additional land neighboring the rest of Big Valley Ranch. This area was a great purchase to add additional trails and land, as well as the two bedroom cabin.

Great place stay!
Should be more cleaner for the price but its not a big deal
Perfect cabin get away
Absolutely beautiful cabin set in an awesome valley outside of Spring Green. Perfect setting for our girls getaway. Hope to come back again!
Quiet, Peaceful place for a retreat, great if you have horses
This quaint cabin is a great place to stay.
We wanted a cabin in the area for a couple nights to go to APT, hiking, etc. We are Wisconsin transplants to Notre Dame University and have always loved the driftless area. Just getting to the cabin was a wonderful drive, then driving up the long, winding, wooded drive, we saw the beautiful red barn, outbuildings, and cabin.....the cabin was great (no mention that it had AC, but that was appreciated), but the views were beautiful with no one in sight. I will come back.
Beautiful setting and great location
We booked for a last minute weekend get away/reunion with friends and had a great time. The cabin is perfect for two couples or a family of 4, just be aware, as they note in the listing, the second bedroom does require a ladder climb. This wasn't a problem for us, but could be for small children or older adults. The cabin is well appointed and had pretty much everything you could need/want including wi-fi and AC. Everything was immaculately clean. There is also a gas grill and a fire pit area.
The setting is beautiful.....it's even better in person than the photos.....rolling hills and farmland and we enjoyed sitting on the wrap around porch and enjoying the view. The cabin is nicely secluded from any neighbors and is about a 15-20 minute drive to the town of Spring Green where you will find a decent Grocery Store, quaint little town center, the House on the Rock and Taliesin (Frank Lloyd Wright's estate and Architecture School). We also spent an afternoon swimming in the Wisconsin River from a beach area just outside of Spring Green that was perfect. All in all a great weekend getaway.
Charming cabin away from it all...but close to Taliesin, House on the Rock and Spring Green.
My 3 sisters and I wanted a place to all stay together and have a kitchen to prepare some meals. The Hillside property was charming and cozy. We appreciated the cabin decor. The acreage is rolling and supplies beautiful views from every window. We hiked on the horse trails and enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on the front porch. The property is very quiet and peaceful except for the song birds! We enjoyed watching the bluebirds and were visited by some deer. We all commented about returning in the future to experience the other 3 seasons, Spring in Spring Green was memorable.
The Log Cabin is 13 miles from Spring Green & 17 miles from Dodgeville. The Taliesin, American Players Theatre, Peck's Farm & Produce stands with petting & deer zoo, House on the Rock are all a short drive away. The Log Cabin is a part of Big Valley Ranch, located 3 hours from Chicago area, 1 hour from Madison, 2 hours from Milwaukee, and 4 hours from Minneapolis.
