A charming 'Beach House' style two bedroom log cabin with decking & garden area
About Roger Green
Myself (Roger), my partner Jenny and our kids, Alyshia and Leon currently live in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.
Roger Green purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Roger Green chose Thurlestone
We had been holidaying in the area for some years and would love to have found a bolt-hole but everything was too expensive or just didn't appeal. The moment we drove down the lane into the valley and saw Toad Hall we knew it was the right place, the destiny that we had been waiting to come along. It captured our hearts from that moment and we love it more with each visit and miss it when we are not there.
What makes this Cabin unique
It has just about everything.... in the countryside with great walks yet also really close to some of the most beautiful and diverse coastline in the country (my main hobby is kayaking so it is ideally placed for that). Incredibly quiet with great starlit skies at night. Lots of wildlife. Some fabulous towns and villages close by. Loved the location and the coziness of the cabin. Fabulous walk to Bantham beach, around an hour but fabulous views of the estuary.
The walk is worth it and Ralf (dog) loved the beach. Highly recommend a visit.
Lovely little cabin in peaceful area.
Lovely little cabin in very quiet location.
It was smaller than expected but that did not spoil our enjoyment at all.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with and we had a good, albeit very short, break.
I suspect we would have been disappointed if we'd been there in high season and all the neighbouring cabins had been occupied too, as we felt they were very close but this is true of many holiday cottages and we did have a good time. The nearby beach is great but again I suspect in the summer, it would be very busy.
Thank you Rog for allowing us to stay there.
Perfect cosy cabin
Two adults, 2 children, 1 dog. Great cabin with everything you need. Very comfortable in a beautiful location. Highly recommended.
Fantastic. A drive to the beach not a walk as I thought. Beautiful surroundings. Set amongst several other cabins. All amenities catered for.
Delightful hide away, so peaceful, warm and welcoming
Being so close to Bantham was brilliant as we could be walking the dogs in 10mins on the most beautiful beach. The lodge was clean warm cosy and welcoming.
Wonderful Setting. Excellent itinerary. absolutely everything that you could need and more. Handy base.
Loved it may well go back which is unusual for us.
Bantham has a large, unspoilt sandy beach with views to Burgh Island and Bigbury on sea. It is perfect for families, surfers, body boarders, kayaking and walkers. The South West coast path is accessed from the beach with walks to secluded coves, pretty villages such as Thurlestone, Modbury and Hope Cove and the vibrant yachting town of Salcombe. Dogs are permitted on the beach year round, but in the summer season are restricted to the Ham and the western end of the beach (large area of sand at low tide). RNLI lifeguards patrol throughout the summer, and there is a surfing school based at the beach. (See following link for Magic Seaweed surf update and webcam...http://magicseaweed.com/Bantham-Surf-Report/10/ ). The only other facilities are public toilets, but the village is a few minutes walk and has a shop, cafe and an excellent pub (The Sloop Inn). The cabin is within approximately half an hours drive of Dartmouth, Plymouth and the vast, rugged expanse of Dartmoor. The nearest town is the lovely Kingsbridge which has two supermarkets, a delightful High Street, Doctor's surgery/hospital, cinema and lots of excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways.
