About Brian and Les Newbury
Hi, I'm Lesley. I live next door with my husband Brian, we both work part time. We moved to the Highlands in 2001. Never looked back and we feel very privileged to live in this beautiful glen. Our holiday cottage is next door and has just been completed. We have beautiful views across the glen and a forest at the back. A Badger often visits us at night and eats anything our chickens and ducks leave behind.
Brian and Les Newbury purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Brian and Les Newbury chose Struy
We decided that instead of visiting the countryside we wanted to be part of it so we bought a plot of land and built our own house.
What makes this Cottage unique
A few minutes walk across the Glen is the river Glass with Wild Atlantic Salmon and Brown Trout. Fishing permits are available locally. Behind us is Glen Strathfarrar. It is a lovely drive, walk or cycle ride. It is an ideal location for hill walkers with several munro's. The river Glass is ideal for canoeing. 15 minutes further up the Glen is Glen Cannich and Glen Affric (Often described as the most scenic Glen in Scotland). A 30 minute drive will take you to Inverness or Loch Ness or the Black Isle. At Rosemarchie Dolphins are often seen following boats up the Moray Firth toward Inverness. Also on the Black Isle toward Allness can be seen the local seals. The isle of Skye, Fort William and Ullapool on the west coast are all day trips.

Perfect!
Lovely accommodation that is very spacious and has everything you need. Location is perfect and we all had a brilliant time - including the dog! Would definitely recommend.
lovely clean cottage
Lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings. Idea for walking and exploring. Cottage had everything we needed and more. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommended it.
Friendly reception, great location, clean and well equipped cottage. Loved our highland adventure!
The cottage was easy to find and provided a great base for all the attractions we wanted to visit. There was lots of info available to browse in he cottage itself too and I only wish we had more time to explore the area further. We received a friendly welcome and enjoyed the box of shortbread left out for us.
The environment was very clean, well maintained and there were lots of thoughtful touches in this self catering cottage that proved to be very useful. Amenities all as described.
Lovely views to the front and the little bird feeder in the back garden provided our 18 month old son with lots of entertainment! We found the cottage to be quite child friendly - we were provided with a high chair for him and had the offer of a cot and stair gate if needed.
During our stay we visited the following attractions all within easy driving distance - Loch Ness Experience Centre in Drumnadrochit, Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Dunrobin Castle in Golspie (great gardens and falconry display), Cawdor Castle (beautiful gardens), took the City Sight Seeing Bus Tour in Inverness and finally had an outing to Landmark Adventure Park near Aviemore. We had a great time!
Would certainly recommend the cottage to friends and family.
Really pleased you enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for leaving a lovely revue.
Lovely cottage in perfect location, hidden Gem
Loved our stay in this cottage, perfect base for all the different places we wanted to visit. We went to Portree in skye, went to see Eileen donan castle in Dornie, went down to fortwilliam and Glencoe, down one side of Loch Ness and back the other. We also had a few days nearer and was stunned with the scenery truly breathtaking, lots of lovely walks for the dog. Cottage had everything we needed and more. We were sad to leave but we can always and most definitely come back.
