One Bedroom Cottage, Sleeps 2
Home from Home Holidays
Perfecr short break for two
Willows was compact, clean, well appointed and perfect for our needs. The owner was friendly and welcoming and the animals and fowls were also very friendly, especially when we were carrying food!
I have an issue with HomeAway who charged booking fees which were not itemised as such on the website and then left another company to make all the arrangements (who incidentally also paid them commission) who were much easier to deal with. HomeAway are almost impossible to contact by telephone and I felt I was wasting my time trying to get any satisfaction out of them. Therefore 2/10 for the company but 10/10 for the property
Just right for our needs
This was a neat and comfortable property in a good location. The owner was friendly and helpful. Lovely and quiet at night, though the cockerels do give an early wake-up call!
Thank you so much for taking the time to put together such a lovely review. We're always thrilled to receive positive feedback and I will ensure your comments are passed onto the owner. We look forward to welcoming you back to Willows and the Isle of Wight soon!
A small tranquil retreat set on a traditional small farm with sheep , cows and ducks.
Was made to feel very welcome by the owner who lives in the adjacent farmhouse. The building is kept in good condition and the wifi was fine. Intend to go again.
Quiet haven in the Isle of Wight
The cottage is located on a farm in the central Isle of Wight. It is small but comfortable and is the only rental property on the site. The farmer, Richard, is very pleasant and helpful, and there are numerous ducks and chickens roaming around, together with a very affectionate dog. The wi-fi is very slow, but just about OK for browsing and Facebook. Otherwise, the cottage is well equipped and conveniently situated for visiting the whole island.

Good value for money, not as advertised
When we arrived the owner wasn't there to greet us, luckily his sister was there to let us in. However, she had no idea that we were coming, therefore the house hadn't been cleaned. The door was already unlocked, so we went in to find an unclean house. There were dog hair on the bed and pillows, CBBC playing on the TV and dirty towels in the shower. There was obviously miscommunication between the agency and the owner, therefore we don't know who was to blame for the mix-up. However, after a five hour drive it is not great to arrive to a dirty house only to be turned away for another 45 minutes to give the sister time to clean the house for us. On the website it is advertised that there was access to a lovely pond next to the house. However, the pond was actually in the owners front garden, meaning we would have to trespass if we wanted to sit by it and enjoy it. It was also advertised that there was a fold-out sofa in the living room, however, the sofa seemed to be almost falling apart and therefore we weren't able to unfold it without risking part of the sofa coming off. There is WiFi, however it is very slow and would keep on disconnecting. Maybe our expectations of what the place would be like were too high, maybe we did get what we paid for... Regardless we definitely won't be returning.
Many thanks for your feedback and we're so sorry to hear of your troubles. We will be sure to liaise with the owner on your behalf to understand what happened in this instance, and to clarify the sofa and pond arrangements. We hope you were still able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine on the island!
Very clean and comfortable.
Richard the farmer and host was extremely helpful and accommodating. Nothing was to much trouble. You have to remember you are staying on a farm with all that entails. The accomadation has 15in thick walls so very quiet if you wish.
We loved watching the sheep shearing close up.being close with the cattle and of course Pip and Trixie the dogs. Highly recommended . You do need a car and a sat nav. Must go again Mike and Elaine

Calbourne is just west of Newport with Shorwell and Chale to the south east of the island, providing the ideal holiday surroundings, including village shops and friendly pubs and restaurants. The West Wight, as its known, is a scenic area consisting of some of the island's prettiest villages and hamlets and mostly designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Special Scientific Interest (SSI). Visit Alum Bay and The Needles and you will have a fabulous family day out; Freshwater village also offers a wide range of shops, pubs, eateries and a sports centre. The charming and historic port town of Yarmouth nearby has a marina and a 16th century castle, which is well worth a visit.
The Isle of Wight is famous for its superb beaches, dramatic coastlines and outstanding natural beauty, making it a holiday haven with something for everyone. From secluded coves and wide expanses of sandy beaches to coastal paths and woodland, it's not just the stunning landscapes that attract visitors to the island, but also the variety of things to see and do. Rich in a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities, it's no wonder visitors return year after year. Self-catering is the most popular option because it is both cost effective and offers the flexibility and freedom to come and go as you please.
