Cottage in Stockland, Honiton, Devon, England - Stunning Hilltop Views, 20 Minute Drive To Jurassic Coast Beaches, Help to Feed the Animals.
About Robert Millington
We always wanted to raise our own meat and grow our own fruit and veg, and to have a few more trees than big red buses to look at, so we're really pleased to have made the move from the big smoke In our first year here, we did up the house and converted the old dairy into the lovely holiday cottage it now is. Now that the building work is over, we can concentrate on developing the smallholding to provide as much of our own food and fuel as possible. We have two young children, so know all about the great local family attractions, and we're happy to help with information if you need it. We love the slower pace of life, the great local food, and the friendly vibe in East Devon, and we hope we can share some of this great way of life with our visitors.

Why Robert Millington chose Stockland
We love the slower pace of life, the great local food, and the friendly vibe in East Devon, and we hope we can share some of our bit of heaven with our guests. We chose a place that is easy enough to get to for our friends and family, but with the peace and quiet that comes with our lovely rural location. A short 20 minute hop to the beach too where you can hunt for fossils along the Jurassic Coast, and life is complete! Stockland village is really active, with events running all year. Just let us know if you would like to find out what's happening locally. A Gas BBQ is provided (we also have a charcoal BBQ if you prefer) on the decking area, along with a home made picnic bench in the orchard below the deck. Enjoy exploring our woodlands and the common land that adjoins our farm, where you can look out for the deer, badgers and owls that live there. The cottage is really cosy in the winter with full central heating and a wood fired stove in the living room to make it very toasty. At Christmas the cottage is decorated with a locally grown Christmas tree to give it a festive feel.
What makes this Cottage unique
Easy access to the Jurassic coast beaches and the South West Coast Path. All sorts of great foodie experiences to be had, with a plethora of farmers markets, great restaurants and pubs nearby. We run a smallholding, so you are welcome to spend some time with us helping to feed the animals and collect the eggs. Our small flock of friendly Shetland sheep are in our field and sometimes in the orchard below the cottage to keep the grass down. The chickens and ducks generally free range around the farm and will see them wondering around looking for snacks. Guests are free to roam around our field and woodland looking for the amazing wildlife. Our woodland backs on to the common land, with footpaths to explore. We can show you the best spot for badger watching, where you'll also see deer, owls and other great wildlife. We are 20 minutes from the famous seaside town of Lyme Regis, with its historic cob and great pubs and restaurants, including the renowned Hix Oyster and Fish House, the Lyme Regis Town Mill and many other attractions. Also close at hand and within an easy half hour drive are Sidmouth, Seaton Branscombe and Beer. Beer is our family favourite, with great cafes on the beach itself, top notch rock-pooling and a lovely little high street to stroll along. The Jurassic Coast which runs from West Dorset to East Devon is one of our favourite destinations to visit with each part different from the next and all within easy reach. All the sea-side towns above make great places to start your exploration and are connected by the South West Coast Path.

Perfect family retreat
What an absolute gem of a cottage. We stayed with a 2 year old and a 6 year old and couldn’t bear to leave. Rob and Kath have thought of everything a family could need and more. The cottage is only a short drive to the seaside towns of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth (buckets and spades provided by the thoughtful hosts) but also far enough inland to enjoy the tranquility of the East Devon countryside. Pictures are worth a thousand words and the views from the decking really are that stunning. We enjoyed a gorgeous barbecue there with fish fresh from the seaside. And on top of that is the farm. Rob and Kath were happy for us to feed the sheep and pigs whenever we wanted to and left some sheep food for us (the gorgeous piglets were happy to share our leftover fruit and veggies!) For two city kids (and two slightly older kids at heart!) it was like all their dreams come true. We’ll definitely be back!
A lovely peaceful environment surrounded by nature perfectly placed for famous fossil beaches.
This is a delightful, comfortable and beautifully clean (well equipped) cottage situated a 20-minute drive from world-famous fossil beach, Charmouth. If you love to be immersed in the countryside with trees and hills around you, and lovely views, then this is the place for you. As it was spring, my boys loved seeing little lambs (and they stoked one lamb, supervised by Robert) and we enjoyed seeing the hens pecking around and the appearance of a very affectionate cat. We also enjoyed one of the many walks in the area and visited at least 4 very different beaches, some with immense waves and all with incredible cliffs of sandstone, limestone or chalk. A highlight was Durdle Door rock arch in the sea, just over an hour away. A lovely cottage in an awesome part of the country!
Really lovely farm
This is our second visit to this lovely, well equipped pretty farm. It is a great place to explore the surrounding areas. We loved going to Seaton, Branscombe, Beer and the special higlights included Horseriding at Devenish Pitt stables, climbing Canonteign waterfalls and seeing badgers at Devon Badger watch in Tiverton. The kids loved seeing and feeding the animals at the farm. Robert and Kath were such warm and friendly hosts. We will definitely be back.
Close to everything but peaceful
Lovely well equipped cottage in a quiet and peaceful location, but has easy access to many places and attraction. Rob the owner - was a mine of information of places to see, pubs, shopping etc Cottage clean and has all the facilities you need.
Thank you and we are pleased you had a good break and we hope to welcome you back in the future.
Property was extremely good being spacious very clean and all the amenities needed for a great stay
Met by Rob on arrival who was very friendly and welcoming. When we entered the cottage we were very impressed at the spacious front/dining room and how well it was tastefully decorated and clean. On further inspection the rest of the cottage was just the same. Throughout our stay we found everything we needed was available for use. Unfortunately the weather was not good so we couldn’t take advantage of the outside facilities.
Most impressive and would recommend this cottage as a holiday break to anyone
Such a lovely cottage!
What a lovely cottage, in a lovely area and with lovely hosts too!
Very nice decor, clean and inviting.
Also, very dog-friendly, always feel worried about turning up with too huge hairy mastiffs and feeling on edge but didn't at all, nice secure orchard for the boys to be off lead and potter.
Really enjoyed it and hope we can go back - if the dogs didn't let us down!!!!
