Stunning Castle near Beauly, Scotland - Peaceful Location Close To River
About Jilly Sinclair-Knipe
My husband, Peter, and I manage the Estate and properties for an old friend. It has been our focus and passion as we strive to maintain and improve this beautiful Highland Estate. Until the 1930's the castle was the seat of Clan Chisholm.
Why Jilly Sinclair-Knipe chose Beauly
This magnificent castle is surrounded by farmland in an area of stunning natural beauty, with the dramatic landscape of the hills beyond, yet it is easily accessible by road rail and air with Inverness being only 40 minutes away by car. Fantastic for getting together with family and friends, relaxing round the fire in cooler months or enjoying the hot tub in summer. The games room and full size snooker table can be a welcome diversion on a wet day, but the extensive grounds are a joy to explore whatever the weather. Comfortable beds, including two four posters, luxurious Toiletries from the Highland Soap Company and thick fluffy bathrobes help to soothe aching muscles after a day on the hill or just visiting local places of interest and ensure a good nights sleep. We can also supply delicious home cooked meals on request for your arrival. - just ask for details.
What makes this Castle unique
The castle is comfortable and spacious with a unique sense of history and wonderful views across the glen to the hills. The peace and tranquillity of the surroundings with the gentle lilt of the river in the background make it a paradise for relaxing and seeing local wildlife, including the native red squirrel. For several centuries it was the home of Clan Chisholm and still retains many original features.

Everything about this experience was perfect. We had a large group ages 17 to 78, and everyone just loved Erchless. The castle is perfectly appointed and is loaded with books, games, and surprises for all tastes. Our fishermen caught fish! We wandered the estate and explored everywhere. Allison and Greg were especially accommodating and helpful. Jilly made reserving and planning so easy as well.
I am quite sure we will return to Erchless! We loved the neighborhood and the neighbors (aside, perhaps, from the tractors that seemed to enjoy running us off single track roads … ). Perfect spot from which to explore the Highlands. it seems like you can get anywhere in an hour and a half from Erchless! Can't wait to return ...
What a holiday to plan -we enjoyed helping you and I am so glad that everything worked well. You were great guests - Great communication, a lot of fun, left everything clean and tidy and you are welcome back at any time.
The Experience of a Castle in Scotland
Erchless Castle was a perfect stay while experiencing the Scottish highlands. This trip was a family pilgrimage and the Castle with a pub within walking distance was definitely a memorable part of the trip itself.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the Erchless experience. We were happy to welcome you and hope to see you again one day!
Perfect International Family Gathering
The castle exceeded our expectations! Gorgeous, clean, comfortable and truly lovely grounds and surrounding areas. Jilly was a fount of information and very responsive to my many questions. Greg and Alison provided a friendly welcome, incredibly delicious meals and quick response to any requests we had. Location was convenient to the local towns as well as Inverness and other places of interest. We could’ve spent the entire week on the property, though, and been well satisfied. Highly recommend!
Your comments make it all worthwhile. I am so glaad you had a good stay and enjoyed the castle and surroundings
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Look forward to seeing you again next year
The castle was pure relaxation and historical. Quite spacious and good for a large group .
We were a group of 11 friends and we loved our time in this historic castle. You can walk around the estate and enjoy watching the animals in the fields and sitting by the river beauly The castle/estate is well appointed for Loch Ness, Beauly and the highlands.
Our visit was smooth with thanks to Alison and Greg.
We think it is a pretty special place and we really want our guests to relax and enjoy the surroundings. So glad you had a wonderful and peaceful stay., I hope you also had the opportunity to try Alison’s sticky toffee pudding ! Jilly and the Erchless team
All 16 of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Excellent property with rich history. My only advice....keep the drive way salted BEFORE the guests in a 2wd rental car get stuck! Can't thank Greg and Alison enough for their hospitality and awesome Christmas meal during our stay
