Cottage in Penmaen, Gower Peninsula, Wales - Peaceful Location In The Heart Of A Working Farm, Boasting Panoramic Views Of The Countryside
About JAMES TREGONING
Here at Little Walterstone Farm we have 98 acres concentrating on sheep and cattle. We converted The Old Corn Mill into this holiday cottage in 2012 to share the beauty of the countyside. The owner of the farm is Newton Woollacott aged 68 and still working hard! However with the trials and tribulations that come with running a working farm he has to have help. Which is where i come in, my name is James Tregoning i'm 33 and married to Jade and we have a two young sons. I've been on the farm since i was 6 and worked the farm for well over 18 years. In that time together Newton and I have promoted the farm no end! 3 large new barns, stone walls that could rival Hadrian and of course we built the Old Mill cottage. Newton has asked me to manage the cottage on his behalf.

walking in Gower
Deafened by the silence! Peaceful, comfortable and central cosy cottage. An unmade track but perfectly manageable if taken carefully. Friendly and welcoming hosts.
Very central for superb walking straight from the cottage to the hills.
Great location with amazing view of the Gower peninsula. Fantastic break! Thank you!
Lovely little bolthole
Lovely cottage, friendly hosts, perfect location for exploring the beautiful Gower. Thank you so much for such a pleasant stay - will definitely be back!
Peace and tranquillity
Marvellous place to stay. Really lovely cottage in a beautiful environment and away from it all location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Lovely Rural Cottage
A lovely cottage in a great rural setting. We really enjoyed this visit to Gower and it's great beaches. Little Walterstown, whilst offering peace and quiet, gives good access to it all and the superb Three Cliffs Bay is within walking distance.
James and Jade were very helpful as was Newton the farmer. We will certainly visit again.
Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure having you and your family stay on the farm and we hope to see you again some time.
The perfect guests
A lovely cosy cottage on the farm
What a lovely place to stay. James and Jade and the family are all perfect hosts - despite the changeable weather, we got to the beaches virtually everyday. The cottage has all you would need for a holiday. The track to the cottage is rural so it means you get to see the sheep, horses and rabbits running around. In the sunshine and showers of the Gower, we were only 10 -15 min drive to Oxwich bay for an accessible beautiful beach and several great walks for my wife and children to less visited ones with rocks and caves at Three Cliffs Bay and Mewslade Beach. Thank you for the fresh eggs and vegetables. We all had a lovely time especially Georgie the dog with all the new smells and Waddles our hampster! Thank you again.
We’re so glad you had such a lovely holiday. We feel very privileged to of met your lovely family, especially waddles. We hope to see you again some time.
Special interest holidays:
For those people who are looking for a holiday with bird watching, walking, horse riding, cycling, surfing, painting and fishing then The Old Mill on Little Walterstone Cottage is the perfect place for you. Everything listed can be obtained right on the cottage doorstep ( fishing and surfing would require a 25 minute walk or 10 minute drive ).
The Gower Peninsula has numerous amounts of award winning beaches dotted around, since it was awarded the first area of outstanding natural beauty in Britain it has become a Mecca for those who love sand, sea and surf. The nearest beach to The Old Mill is 1.5mile walk to Nicholston beach or 2mile walk to 3 cliffs bay ( recently picked Britains favourite view by Cathrine Jenkins ). If you drive you have the option to go to any of Gowers beaches as Penmaen is very central.
We recommend you hire a car or bring your own as we are 1.2 miles from the road. Swansea has an airport but our nearest commercial airport is in Cardiff approx 55 miles away
The coast is a 1.5 mile walk over countryside and the nearest pubs are a 2.5mile walk in either direction or 15 minute drive. Our nearest amenities shop is also about a 15 minute drive.
We advise doing your food shop before you arrive as the nearest supermarket is a 30 minute drive, however remember not to buy eggs as your on a working farm! Plus play your cards right and the very generous farmer may make his vegetables available from his extensive vegetable plot. The nearest bank is again a 30 minute drive and there are plenty of restaurants in and about the Gower.
