Lodge in Great Elm, Nr. Frome, Somerset, England - It Is A Peaceful Location But Not To Far From Amenities Although Transport Would Be An Advantage
About Sarah bradshaw
I live in a pretty village in Somerset and have a farm with mainly dressage horses but also chickens, pigs and sheep. I used to be an Interior Designer and have used this experience to decorate my little retreat for guests to stay on the farm. We have our own eggs and own meat and like to be as self sufficient as possible.
Sarah bradshaw purchased this Barn in 2011
Why Sarah bradshaw chose Mendip District
I love this part of Somerset as it is so beautiful. It is close enough to Bath and Salisbury for anything needed in the city. Frome the local town just 3 miles away is very alternative with local markets on certain days of the month. It is full of unusual vintage and interesting shops and cafe's In our lovely village of Great Elm we have fantastic woods to explore full of wildlife some fabulous scenery where an old railway track has been turned into a cycle track. We are on the boarders of Wiltshire and Dorset two other beautiful counties. We are about a mile from the village of Mells which is also very pretty. It has all our local amenities, a postoffice with an Internet cafe, a walled garden to explore serving coffee, homemade cakes and light lunches and a lovely 16th century coaching Inn fabulous for dinner.
What makes this Barn unique
The property is called the lodge and is a beautiful self-catering barn building with lovely rustic beams. It is a real country retreat for a couple who want to get away for a few days from the stresses and strains of a busy life. We offer our own eggs and at certain times of the year our own meat.

My partner and I had a brilliant 2 night stay in this converted barn.
The owner, Sarah, was lovely and gave us a tour of the place. She also recommended things to do and places to eat.
We would definitely come back and stay!
Large and spacious Barn for 2 people in quiet location
This modern barn conversion on the edge of a farm has everything you need for a comfortable stay. With a large, comfortable bed and space to watch the sun go down - it's a definite hideaway retreat. It's rustic and in the countryside so be ready for a few insects and simple but "all-you-need" bathroom and kitchen facilities.
The barn is located next to a series of farm buildings so don't expect glorious countryside views from the patio but the bedroom overlooks open countryside so you can watch the sun go down from the comfortable chairs.
Sarah and Stephen (hosts) were incredibly helpful and flexible - allowing us to change our dates to fit in with some work commitments.
Overall - a very good value stay for a pleasant and relaxing weekend.
A wonderful property in the perfect location for us!
The owner was friendly and welcoming, and gave great tips for places to eat etc.
