About Nick and Gill Seagrave
This is a family holiday home.
Nick and Gill Seagrave purchased this Bungalow in 1960
Why Nick and Gill Seagrave chose Porthleven
This property belonged to our grandparents. They loved living in Cornwall with its mild weather and relaxed way of life. We have many happy memories of family holidays here for the last 30 years so we have extended and refurbished the property. Now it is complete family and friends will be visiting regularly, but for the remaining weeks we thought we should give others the opportunity to experience the area.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Having a base in such a beautiful location is fabulous and we think the property is perfect for an affordable family holiday.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Well equipped bungalow in a convenient location.
Positives: We appreciated that the bungalow was well equipped and the shower room was newly fitted. Lounge and kitchen breakfast rooms are spacious and light. Porthleven is pleasant and in a convenient location for exploring the Lizard and Land's End. We could easily walk into town from the bungalow for shopping and sightseeing.
Negatives: The bedrooms are all small. No wall mirrors apart from one bedroom. Could have done with one near a power socket for doing hair and makeup. Shower room is very small 6 ft square minus 3 ft shower cubicle. Separate loo has no hand basin. Lounge has an unpleasant doggy odour.
A very poor and disapppinting holiday property
Exceedingly bad and the poorest equipped holiday cottage ever stayed in. A refund is being sought from the owner/yourselves.
A Home from Home
This place ticked all the boxes for us. Warm, clean, tidy. Everything we could have needed (or wanted) was there (although we didn't manage to find a pizza cutter) Lovely, lovely bungalow (yes I meant to put lovely twice) Would have been quite happy to spend the whole week in bed (never slept in a bed so comfy) Beautiful garden, very well maintained (as was the property) We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed exploring locally, some good walks in all directions. Didn't bother using the car much at all. I think this will be a regular visit for us in the future!!!
Thank-you for your review. There wasn't a pizza cutter but we will look at providing one in future.
Great location to Porthleven
Property was bright and airy...lovely garden and luxury white linen and towels. Would recommend this property for a central location.
Wonderful holiday home.
Tara is a wonderfully situated bungalow, a quiet walk down to the harbour and choice of beaches, supported very well by RNLI lifeguards. It is close, within an average 20/25 miles to most towns and attractions.
The bungalow itself is very well equipped for all family needs and a lovely size for youngsters to play. We were two families; grandparents, daughter, son in law, 4 1/2 year old and 7 month old baby but we didn’t feel once on top of each other.
We have had a fabulous fortnight.
Thank you Nick and Gill for allowing us to stay in your wonderful family home.
I'm pleased that you enjoyed your holiday.
Lovely bungalow close to beach and harbour
We had a lovely week at the bungalow, what a lovely place, quiet well equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher, the garden was lovely, and close to the harbour and beach, and a great location for vistinging the lizard. We will definitely be returning. Many Thanks.
Porthleven beach is an extensive beach with some rocks and pools, and a lifeguard in the summer. It is next to the harbour.
There are dozens of other beaches along the coast, with popular tourist locations of Penzance, St. Ives and Kynance within easy reach, but with numerous other quieter hidden gems off the beaten track.
Newquay airport is just over 30 miles/1 hour away.
Trains to Redruth and Penzance 12 miles.
Truro is the nearest city 40 minutes away
Penzance is 30 minutes away
St Ives can be reached in 40 minutes but allow longer at peak times
Also close by are:
Flambards, Cornwall's largest theme park (15 minutes),
Goonhilly Earth Centre (20 minutes)
Cornwall Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes)
Poldark Mine (15 minutes)
Goldophin House (15 minutes)
Marconi Centre (30 minutes)
Helston Boating lake (10 minutes)
Porthleven has a number of excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes. If you want to cook for yourself there is a small supermarket which will meet most needs, failing that there is a Tescos and a Sainsburys in Helston (15 minutes).
Porthleven also has a bakery, pharmacy, fish and chip shops, newsagent and gift shops.
