Why Caroline Wood chose Glastonbury
Somerset is a beautiful county with great variety. It offers great contrasts from the wild, flat areas of the levels and Exmoor to the higher grounds of The Mendips, The Quantocks and The Blackdown Hills. It has picturesque villages and wonderfully remote country lanes but not far away are the cities of Bath and Bristol with their own history and sites to see. In Somerset the pace of life can seem slower and the climate gentle. It is a rural county with many diverse industries, be it cider making, basket weaving or cheese!
What makes this Cottage unique
The property is in a peaceful location backing onto lovely countryside with walks from the doorstep. It is close by many places of interest, most especially Glastonbury with The Tor and ruined Abbey and the city of Wells with its magnificent Cathedral, Bishops Palace and Vicar's Close. This area of Somerset offers exciting landscapes like Cheddar Gorge and Ebbor Gorge and Burrington Combe. There are country houses and beautiful gardens to visit. The famous Stourhead is close by so too Lytes Cary and Montacute House. Then there is the completely different landscape of the Somerset Levels rich in History and wild life. It is a land of myths and legends and it is a county famous for its Cheddar cheese, its cider, its caves and its carnivals.
