About Mrs. Pitchforth
Moalnaceap is a family owned cottage. It was purchased when my father worked on the nearby Aigas dam as an engineer with the Hydro Electric scheme. It has been part of our family for over 60 years and we ourselves holiday there. I have many happy childhood memories at the cottage.
Why Mrs. Pitchforth chose Beauly
Please read the many recent positive guest reviews of our cottage. Here are a few of their comments:- Amazing A place to fall in love with Welcoming and well equipped Great hospitality Escape from modern life Beautiful surroundings Nice open fire Remote and silent Plenty of ideas and booklets Lovely and peaceful cottage Great for stargazing with a dram!
What makes this Cottage unique
With the cottage being in a commanding position on the fringe of Aigas Forest with no neighbouring properties in view, it offers a perfect place to enjoy the rich wildlife, such as deer, badger, pine martins, red kites and perhaps you will be lucky enough to see a peregrine or osprey. Beauly offers enjoyable local amenities and Inverness is about a 40 minute drive a way for a great day out. Keen walkers and outdoor types will be pleased to discover the unlimited local forest and hill walks available in the area and can start from your doorstep. Loch Ness and Uruqhart Castle are about a 40 minute drive away or take a road trip to Eilean Donan Castle Glen Affric is a short drive way, one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland. Golfers have the convenience of Aigas Golf course whose Club House is situated no more than 1.5 miles away, where you can enjoy refreshments after a round on their attractive fairways.

What an amazing cottage to stay in with just lovely views. The cottage is remote yet easy to get to many places to visit.
We went dolphin and seal watching at Moray Firth, Visited Glens and Lochs including Loch Ness and had a day at the Cairngorms. All fabulous.
The cottage was lovely and cosy with amazing views and the night sky was great (I have never seen so many stars!). Loved our neighbours (3 little friendly pigs) and deer. To sum it fantastic. Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.
Thank you Julie for your fantastic review. I was up there myself recently and thoroughly enjoyed the mini pigs too!
Best wishes, Catriona
the best of the highlands
location, scenery, the cottage, the quietness, and the cottage were perfect, Being where it is.....you can get to anywhere from the cottage. all sorts of things available. going outside in the evening and breathing in the mountain air was just great...... we were sometimes greeted with some wonderful sheep and pigs as well to say good morning. Everything was as it should be. no issues whatsoever. I would come back to the "heaven on earth" cottage anytime.. no hesitation.
Wow, what an awesome review of our cottage, thank you. I am so pleased you thoroughly enjoyed it.
A fairy place to stay

Quiet Rural Retreat
Our family of four enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage in the countryside near Inverness. It was a great central location to explore the southern highlands and a welcome respite from the city life of Edinburgh. We walked the enormous pastures and enojyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen. The location however was ideal for anyone looking to visit Loch Ness/Drumnadochit and the surrounding areas like Beauly, Rosemarkie Beach, and other hidden gems not overrun with other tourists. If you like staying on farms/crofts and seeing a beautiful countryside and lots of wildlife (we saw a tons of sheep, a golden eagle, a red squirrel (!), Roe deer, and four adorable pigs) then this is a highly recommended house to rent for a week or so.
Moalnaceap Cottage is lovely. It is truly on its own and the silence of the surrounding countryside is deafening!! It is very cosy and comfortable and we were blessed with beautiful weather too. Spotlessly clean throughout. When we arrived it was late afternoon but the cottage was warm and welcoming which is so nice after a long day driving. We had a lovely holiday staying here enjoying the peace, fresh air and views from our garden chairs and I suspect we will be returning. The track up to the cottage is to be approached with sensible driving but it was perfectly fine and we do not have a 4x4. Catriona's instructions were very clear on how to find the cottage even tho we doubted ourselves as we left the road behind us.
The surrounding area is also beautiful and a treat to drive on such quiet roads. The bluebells in the surrounding area were as I remember from years ago when they covered woodland and ground in abandon and seemed to go on and on (and I'm not that old!!) Beauty is a very nice town and has some very individual shops which are great to browse in and then have lunch in the local deli (Gluten free cakes and lunch available if required) watching the world go by.
I would highly recommend this very comfortable cottage.

Dear Julie and Steve,
I am so pleased you had such an enjoyable holiday at Moalnaceap Cottage and thank you for your kind and positive review.
I'm glad Percy had a good time too and the weather was good to you all.
What a wonderful Highland hideaway
What a place to stay! We loved our week in the very cosy cottage. We woke every morning to mist rising over the fields and quite often we were lucky enough to see the deer out of the sitting room window.
We spent our week exploring the local area, Glen Affric, Rogie Falls and Plodda Falls were especially beautiful.
We also went to Loch Ness, which was only 45 minutes drive away which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The highlight of our week was seeing the Northern Lights at the back of the cottage! A sheer delight.
Thank you for the Welcome gift on our arrival, a nice surprise.
We will definitely be back to this lovely cottage.
Thank you for your lovely review of our cottage. I'm so pleased you got to see the Northern lights. The deer love it around the cottage as it is so peaceful.
I look forward to you hopefully staying at Moalnaceap again in the future.
