About Julie Mason
We have been coming to this area since 2000 and now live permanently in the local area so are very well placed to provide the answers to any queries. Our love affair with this beautiful and friendly area continues. Having holidayed over the years in many French holiday rentals, we know just how much the "little details" matter and our aim is to provide the extra touches to make sure you have a good holiday and can relax in a home from home. We hope to welcome you!
Julie Mason purchased this Villa in 2000
Why Julie Mason chose La Bastide-de-Bousignac
This was formerly our holiday home before we moved out here to make a permanent home in the area and run our holiday rental business. Mirepoix just ticked all the boxes 19 years ago and still does today! With good facilities locally, market, cinema & restaurants. Not far from anywhere, very friendly, plenty to do and easy to get to.
What makes this Villa unique
Because two of the bedrooms, with sitting area, shower room + WC are on a lower floor with separate access this property is ideal for shared groups or just for those who prefer a little more privacy. There's still plenty of room to all get together to eat, drink and socialise too!

Lovely villa in a beautiful unspoilt area of France.
The villa is located in a very quiet area, with a view from every window. I was such a scenic location with perfect 'French feel'.
The villa had enough space for the six of us and at no point did it feel cramped.
The facilities were clean, with enough little extras to make us feel at home.
The swimming pool area was fantastic - it was secluded and a a suntrap! This was the highlight of the holiday for us.
The location was ideal, with all the things we needed for the holiday - local supermarket, restaurants and (very) local bakery.
The owner made sure we had all the information we needed and was very accommodating.
I would recommend this property and we would definitely consider coming back again! Thank you!!
Perfect for us.
I chose the house because it had the bedrooms we needed and because it wasn't isolated and there is a bakery in the village for breakfast food. The pool was just lovely and we used it every day. We were just 2 miles from Mirepoix where we bought groceries and ate in restaurants. We had a lovely holiday, and would recommend the house to other families/ groups.
Thank you for coming & glad you enjoyed our property and the local area. Not as well known as perhaps Provence but just as pretty and very friendly.
Wonderful property with an amazing pool!
We had the best time at the house!
Very cool during the night so we did not miss aircon at all.
The pool area is amazing, the pool is huge and very private.
We loved it here and can give our best recommendations!
Wonderful family holiday immersed with French culture.
This is such a wonderful property, very will maintained and clean. We stayed here for 2 weeks late June/early July 2018 and wanted for nothing. Everything you could possibly need is provided and the owners are on hand nearby and at the end of the phone to facilitate any requests. The main attraction is the beautiful pool, we spent many hours here. The pool is totally private and has many sun chairs with a table and chairs and gets the sun all day long from early morning.
There is an outside bbq which we used on many evenings situated on a top terrace leading from the main living area with a table and chairs for eating al fresco.
The cul de sac is very quiet and there is a small park, tennis courts and football pitch right by the house.
The washing machine is a great bonus, and little extras like the bluetooth speaker, great wifi, picnic utensils, plenty of towels, lots of hot water, I could go on, basically everything you need.
We used the Super U and Aldi in Mirepoix for our groceries and frequented the individual bakeries, butchers and cheese shops and off course the wine cave which fills your empty water bottles with local wine.
The house is 5 minutes from Mirepoix and totally central to all attractions and activities in the Ariege region. We easily travelled to Carcassonne, Monsegur, Foix, Camon, Lac de Montbel to name a few places. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas, so many pretty villages and stunning scenery. It's very easy to navigate with a car, in fact we had a 9 seater on country roads. All the local restaurants were lovely, we especially liked Le grain de sel in Mirepoix.
We were so sorry to leave this villa and the area and hopefully in the future we will get the opportunity to return.
Glad our lovely area and this property, which is our own former holiday home, gave you everthing you needed for a great holiday! Our pleasure to read that we've provided all the little "extras" that are so often missing. Please do come again here or to any of our other two properties nearby.
Wonderful location, very comfortable accommodation
We had a wonderful stay at Coin du Soleil. The house is warm and cosy with a lovely wood burner and very well equipped kitchen. The location is superb, close to many superb market towns, scenic highlights, castles and other historic sites, with Spain, Andorra and the Mediterranean coast all close by. The village itself is quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended!
Glad to read that these global travellers made the most of this wonderful area and enjoyed being home from home with everything they needed for a long winter stay.
Property is large, private and very well equipped.
We have just come back from a week at Coin du Soleil. The property is nice, large and very well equipped. The pool is large and private with plenty of loungers. Not too far from Mirepoix, there are lots to do around the area. The owners I found to be very responsive to all queries. In all we had a great time, a week just did not seem long enough. Would definitely stay here again.
There's a lovely local beach just 8kms away at Lac Montbel with boat hire, pedaloes, cafe, bike hire and riding. The Mediterranean coast is 1hr away with lovely beaches from Narbonne down to the Spanish border.
Carcassonne (served by Ryanair) is an easy 30minute drive through the vineyards. Alternatives are Toulouse 1hr (many airlines), Perpignan or Beziers. Driving is a joy through the middle of france on the virtually toll-free A75 "Meridienne" autoroute. Stop off and make the journey part of the holiday then take back lots of great wine and food!
The village centre is under 0.5km (5mins easy walk) for the bakery, shop etc. Medieval Mirepoix town centre is only 3kms or 5minutes drive. The A61 autorout is just 18kms away opening up many travel options. There is so much to visit all within a very easy drive.
Further Details: TOUR DE FRANCE comes through the area in mid-July.
This area of spectacular natural beauty offers something for everyone. From historical tours of the Cathar castles, wine tours, gourmet restaurants & markets, the Tour de France route, Canal du Midi, Toulouse museums & shops, Go-karting, music festivals, village fetes... the list is endless.
