About Barbara Lascelles
We are semi-retired, living in London where we run an antique clock business, hiring out clocks as props for television and film and taking part in antique fairs where we sell clocks to the public, interior designers and restaurants. Roger particularly likes travelling and tourism. He studied Tourism at the University of Hawaii and subsequently became Director of Tourism in the Seychelles. He enjoys the tourism potential of the Isle of Wight. We have two grown up children, who also live in London and enjoy a holiday on the Isle of Wight with their own families as much as we do.
Barbara Lascelles purchased this Chalet in 2010
Why Barbara Lascelles chose Freshwater
In 2010 we were staying with friends at their bungalow and enjoyed the holiday so much, that we purchased a bungalow there and then, near the sea with uninterrupted views over the Solent. We had first planned to use it for ourselves and to rent it out occasionally, but when we found out about this bungalow, which had stunning views and sun all day long, we decided to buy it just for letting as a holiday home. It also offered us the opportunity that our children could join us on a holiday here while having their own space.
What makes this Chalet unique
Linstone Chine is a magical place, so near to the sea, unspoilt and far away from the hustle and bustle of a town or city. The perfect place to relax, but also a good starting place for exploring the island on foot, by bike or by car. The bungalow is only minutes away from the beach leading up to Colwell Bay, which is in part sandy and perfect for holiday entertainment. The 40 acre of ground surrounding the bungalows are always well kept and offer plenty of space for activities and incorporates a pitch'n put golf course, a football pitch and a substantial children's climbing frame and play area. We very much enjoy that we can be on our own if we want to and meet people in other bungalows if we feel like it. The place is never crowded.

A Great stay
Had a fab time staying here and already looking at coming back next year spectacular views across to the needles the property itself was well equipped and comfortable thank you again for letting us have this property we found that a week wasn’t enough so we will be looking to book again next year for hopefully 2 weeks
A beautiful spot of the world.
We were pleasantly surprised, with the aspect of the property and its amazing views, the cleanliness and the comfort factor. Even the road on approach was far better than we had anticipated. 5 mins to a beautiful bay, we swam in the sea every day it was so warm and sunny. It was amazing.
Our West Bay experience in the Isle of Wight
Really stunning views over Colwell Bay looking out to the Needles, especially in the sunshine. The property was cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. Convenient short drive into Freshwater village to buy food from the large Co-op. A splendid relaxing two weeks.
Perfect base for a holiday very well equipped only down side was the seating not hugely comfy for long periods.
Excellent Location for the Needles
Highly recommended. Definitely budget accommodation, but excellent nontheless. Thanks to the owners for their kind and positive response to a major issue we had (our fault).
Amazing view and location
Cosy, cute bungalow with such a beautiful view which inspired even my children to want to go on outdoor adventures. Perfect for the 3 of us - a really lovely week. Road to the bungalow was a bit potholed, but actually was expecting far worse - I live in South Bucks and most of our roads are much worse so don’t be put off by that! I am so glad we stayed here - it was really wonderful and a memory that will last.
Thank you so much for your uplifting comments, especially as you have stayed in our bungalow so late in the year when warm and sunny weather cannot be predicted or guaranteed. It's paramount for us that our guests are having an exciting and also relaxing time.
The chalet is situated on the cliff top, only minutes away from the sandy, family friendly beach of Colwell Bay, with spectacular views and good bathing facilities
The nearest ferry port is Yarmouth (route: Lymington to Yarmouth), only 10 min drive from there, car is preferable, but the Vectis Bus No 7 stops nearby with 15 min walk to the chalet from there. A taxi ride from Yarmouth ferry port can be arranged. Please contact us for further details.
