About Jane Bell
We live down in Gloucestershire but use the flat maybe for 5 or 6 weeks a year and friends have also used it in the past - so it is home from home. We have recently upgraded the bathroom. We enjoy Kelso as everything one needs is on your doorstep, and yet where the property is situated it quite quiet, even at night. Wi-Fi available.
Jane Bell purchased this Apartment in 1996
Why Jane Bell chose Kelso
Having been brought up in the Scottish Borders, my husband retains an affection for the area and when his parents died, he bought the flat as a means of keeping in touch with his 'native heath'.
What makes this Apartment unique
For a town property, there are pleasant views overlooking the churchyard and the ruins of Kelso Abbey. The second bedroom does not have a view but is very quiet at night. There are 2 pubs nearby - sometimes a bit noisy at the weekend but they close at 11.00 pm!

Perfect apartment close to the centre of the town
Very pleasant 2 bedroom apartment, excellent location, easy parking, very well furnished and equipped.
I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. Kelso and the surrounding area is beautiful
Ideally Placed Flat
The flat is very light and spacious with a great close up view of Kelso Abbey. There is a well equipped kitchen, even a washing machine, which is very useful for the 10 days we stayed. The bathroom is clean and so are the bedrooms, which are not cramped and have plenty of storage. It's up a number of stairs but was not a problem for us.
The flat is just off the high street a mere seconds from the door. Kelso has many cafe's, shops and a micro brewery and is ideally placed for exploring Northumbria as well as the border area and Edinburgh. Glasgow is a 2 hour drive but you do get to see the lovely countryside.
The flat is not visible from the High Street and as there is a partial one way system you have to take the first right turning next to the square followed by another right turn to get to that actual property. Although close to a pub it wasn't noisy for long and hardly any noise through the week.
We had a lovely stay and hope to return one day.
Ideal town centre property in a friendly town
Property was ideally located within one minutes walk of the middle of town. There was a great choice of restaurants and pubs. The local inhabitants could not have been friendlier.
Great apartment - 5 Stars
Homely, comfortable apartment in ideal location for exploring the area
Adventure in Kelso
The property was in good location for what we had planned to do but was noisy at the weekend at night as quite near to pubs and due to other events in the area. A pity it was up 32 stairs but we did know there were stairs and it was our fault we did not consider this matter better before booking. The flat itself we could not fault and found everything we required. Sorry I broke a white mug on the last night . Only slight problem we had was with hot water to kitchen sink as only came out very slowly when on hot. The cold was fine. Please let me know if you would like me to replace the mug but could not do it while there as we left the next morning. Rosemary
The hot water in the kitchen is now working well. Sadly being the Bank Holiday maybe the pubs were a bit noisy. It usually it quietens soon after 11. I'm glad that you were comfortable once in the flat.
A good base from which to explore the Borders
The apartment at Spreadeagle House is a super place to stay. Close to the town, comfortable, yet very quiet. Ticked all the boxes for us! Would certainly recommend.

This holiday let is situated in the Scottish Borders market town of Kelso and is a two minute walk from the attractive central town square. Kelso is positioned on the confluence of the rivers Tweed and Teviot, in gently rolling countryside with the Cheviot Hills to the south and Edinburgh 45 miles to the north.
There are many stately homes and gardens nearby: Floors Castle, Mellerstain House, The Hirsel, Monteviot House, Sir Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford and Thirlestain Castle to name a few. Further afield you have Alnwick Castle and gardens, the Holy Island of Lindesfarne and Scotlands capital city of Edinburgh.
