About Donald Hewit
Don and Sandy Hewit, having owned a rural cottage in East Devon, relocated nearer to the Jurrasic coast and the town of Lyme Regis in November 2016, an area which they love. The advantage of offering both rural and beach holidays made Colyton an appealing location. They have enjoyed modernising this property and designing the landscaping of the back garden.
Donald Hewit purchased this House in 2016
Why Donald Hewit chose Colyton
This property was ripe for modernisation when we found it late in 2016. Since then we have loved the challenge of creating a comfortable, quiet and relaxing environment in which holiday makers can enjoy. Having visited Lyme Regis many times over a period of 30 years, we love the beaches, shops, summer events and ambience. It is an ideal location for those who want to enjoy countryside walks, nearby beaches, fishing trips, fossil hunting and boat trips on coastal waters. The town of Colyton, where the property is located, has a lot of history eg. the Monmouth Rebellion and has interesting historical properties such as the church and Merchant's tearoom close to it. The town has a village feel to it with friendly people. There are National Trust properties and beautiful gardens in the locality. About 1 hour away, there are rock climbing opportunities in the Dartmoor National Park.
What makes this House unique

Lovely holiday home
The house is exactly as advertised.
On arrival we found it spotlessly clean , very homely and welcoming. It is spacious, very well equipped with a delightful sunny garden and summer house to relax in.
The location is perfect for exploring East Devon.
This is a beautiful part of the country, particularly if you enjoy coastal walks and quaint villages for an afternoon tea afterwards!
To summarise, we had a wonderful week in an exceptional holiday rental.
Excellent place for a base to explore area - relaxing, well-appointed & super clean...
We had a great stay at this well-equip house - nicely decorated and appointed, it was very clean and well-cared for. It is light, bright with elevated views of the local area and a lovely relaxing garden. The owner was helpful and friendly and there were good instructions in house relating to any equipment - making an easy stay. We would definitely love to rent this house again for any South East Devon stays.
4 lovely days in a dreamable holiday home in the idyllic Colyton!
We spent last week four lovely days in this dreamable holiday home in Colyton, an idyllic small town in East Devon! We were so lucky to have good weather without rain. The garden with such beautiful flowers and the cosy summer house made our tea and coffee time! The rooms are excellent, very clean and cosy, the views from windows have taken all the stress and Colyton and the Woody View cottage will bring us shurely back! Everything there together with the ocean and the coast is one unforgettable experience. Thank you so much dear Sandy and Don Hewit for your great efforts and hospitality!
With very best wishes,
Teofana, Ventsi and Stefan
A wonderful, peaceful break
We loved our week in Woody View. The house is immaculately clean and extremely well equipped. The garden is a delight and with a couple of sunny days I loved reading in the summer house! Directions to find the house were really clear and having a route planned all helped make this an 'easy' holiday. We had days out at Charmouth, Beer and Lyme Regis which are all easy to get to. We found the fish and chips in Colyton among the best we have ever had - Two portions of chips served 4 adults so be warned! I cooked evening meals twice and found everything I needed was to hand. Our adult children used Axminster station which is nearby. We felt relaxed and well prepared with excellent information from our host Don. I highly recommend it, a complete joy.
A lovely family, who made the most of the location of Woody View and its facilities. It’s proximity to so many interesting places, as well as the well equipped kitchen enabled them to enjoy their well earned, but inexpensive holiday.
Very comfortable home in great condition.
Everything was great, no complaints at all.
Great holiday, great property
Very clean, well equipped and well situated base for our stay on the Jurassic coast. The directions and instructions that were sent were very helpful and our stay was trouble free even with the added bonus of BT sport to fall asleep in front of after long days fossil hunting in the February sunshine! Thanks so much.
Pleased such lovely house guests had such a great time. They certainly capitalised on the home from home facilities and the local attractions such as the tram ride and the nearby fossil hunting trips. Property recently upgraded (in January 2019) from 3 to 4 stars by the inspector, but prices held at those for 3 stars.
