Etlan A-frame With Front View Of Old Rag Mountain.

Bedrooms 1
Space 700 sq. ft.
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps with some creativity.

This 2010 construction A-Frame is ideal for a couple or small family who want to enjoy Old Rag Mountain, Shenandoah National Park, local Vineyards, Graves Mountain Lodge, Virginia farm country and other local attractions or have otherwise need to visit this area.

This will add a hot tub & a new fire pit and pergola. You may book during this time, however keep this info in mind plus I will throw in a free day if the crew is working during your stay. Weather and contractor work load will determine exact days affected. This is outdoor work 50' feet from the house, so consider accordingly.

ALSO, I AM PLANNING SOME INTERIOR UPGRADES TO BEGIN IN FEBRUARY. I WILL BLOCK A WEEK OR 2 AFTER WE SCHEDULE THE JOB. This will add a shower to the upstairs BR & open up some space in the downstairs common area.

The view of Old Rag from the front porch rivals any view east of West Texas, guaranteed.

The upstairs is one area with a full size sleep sofa (for 2) and a King that can be separated into 2 twins. Another sleep sofa downstairs accommodates an adult or 2 kids. We have high speed WIFI, DishNetwork satellite TV, propane furnace, central air, washer/dryer, well stocked kitchen namely pots/pans, dishes etc. Plan well like on a camping trip for your food supplies as the nearest supermarket is 13 miles away. (Etlan Store has basics.) We have a gas BBQ grill, and land line phone as there is no cell service in the general area. One bathroom is listed, but there is also a half bath upstairs.

The property is on a 1.2 acre lot attached to the small village of Etlan. The eastern foot of Old Rag is just over a mile across the meadow. Ducard and Sharp Rock vineyards are 3 miles, Graves Lodge 5 miles, White Oak Falls trail is 8 miles and Luray Caverns is 35 minutes.

This is a new listing as of Feb 2016, and we have been pleasantly encouraged to have very steady bookings already.

The 2 night minimum is only to satisfy county zoning; otherwise, I don't care...Also, please ignore the crass 'pay now' messages that appear from VRBO until you are ready to book.

Hiking and fishing season is in full swing so come on down to Etlan and you are welcome!

About Albert Yowell

My ancestry settled here 250 years ago and the A-Frame sits across the road catty-whompas from the extended family farm.

I fly private jets all over the beautiful USA, so it's always nice to come home to the peaceful view of Old Rag Mountain.

Albert Yowell purchased this chalet in 2015

Why Albert Yowell chose Virginia

For access to the heart of Shenanadoah park, namely Old Rag, White Oak Falls, Graves Lodge, Virginia farm scenery, and local vineyards, the Etlan A-Frame is central.

What makes this chalet unique

The unique physiognomy of the Old Rag skyline is best viewed from right here in Etlan and the small knoll of the Etlan A-Frame.

Beautiful and comfortable property with great host!!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with some friends on an unseasonably nice January weekend. We had a great time, were very comfortable, and had all of our questions answered promptly by the property owner, Albert.

The home is positioned in a gorgeous Shenandoah valley with a phenomenal view of Old Rag mountain. The home is well equipped for cooking, is cozy, and has a nice outdoor fire pit. We also really enjoyed Chumlee, the resident cat who has his own little cabin on the property, and is very well behaved. I will likely try and book this home again.

Relaxing, enjoyable, and definitely plan to come back and stay longer. Owner is great to work with. Looking forward to revisiting after the upcoming renovations. Adding a Hot Tub will make it over 5 stars. Thanks Captain Albert!

We had a great time hiking in the close by national park and were very happy with the house. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

My husband and I spent Thanksgiving here; it was exactly what we were looking for. It's a beautiful home with a beautiful view. It was peaceful and away from it all while having many opportunities for outdoor activities, dining, & touring wineries within a 15 minute drive. We hope to return again!!!

Very Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights, 3 days. The house is perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It's very clean and the views are breathtaking.

Albert was wonderful to communicate with and made our trip arrangements a breeze. We will definitely be back; hopefully with the hot tub!

We ziplined at Virginia Canopy Tours, visited Shenandoah Caverns and hiked White Oak Canyon Falls. I would reccomend stopping by Thornton's Orchard in Sperryville; you must try the apple cider!
