I was born and raised in the Napa Valley in the early 70's, and I now enjoy sharing our Family Ranch in Calistoga with visitors.
Why Calistoga chose Calistoga

What a lovely cottage on a beautiful hillside furnished with the most comfortable interior spaces and a big front porch one finds reluctant to leave. Although the wonderful walking trail does land you right in the heart of downtown Calistoga and you won’t want to miss it. Fortunate that the gracious owners share their special family home with travelers looking for tranquility just up the hill a way . . Hoping to return!
Our team had an amazing experience and lovely time during the stay. Check in and check out was seamless, the property was beautiful and everything we expected. Highly recommend for your getaway!
We are delighted to hear that your team had a lovely stay. Thank you again for choosing our Cottage and we hope we can host you all again!
We came for a long weekend with our three young adult children and had the most amazing time at this Calistoga cottage! Having read all the reviews, we felt fairly confident with renting here...but, it absolutely exceeded our expectations. The cottage is close to town, wineries, hikes, spa treatments.....and yet, you feel nicely secluded. Decorated comfortably...cozy yet spacious. We enjoyed cooking/grilling as well as sitting on the porch in the mornings and evenings. Kendall is a most remarkable host. He keeps the cottage fully stocked in such a way that you feel you are visiting a family member. Besides that, Kendall gave us wonderful suggestions for winetasting, spa treatments, hikes and more. He did this before our visit but was also available via text during our stay. We have traveled a fair amount and I can honestly say that Kendall is a most amazing host. I was surprised by how much we fit into our weekend and yet felt relaxed and renewed ( btw...slept so well here!) returning back to the Bay Area. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. We will be back soon I hope! Highly recommend this Calistoga cottage!!
Nora, we are so lucky to host such a gracious family! Happy that you enjoyed your stay at our Cottage and we look forward to welcoming you back!
Lovely but Many Inconveniences
Property is a lovely cottage with loft bedrooms, nestled in the woods fairly close to town (but traffic bad Friday PM). Host(ess) Kendall is most responsive error and a treasure trove of information (mostly not needed). Beds very comfortable, everything stocked beyond our expectations. So what's not to like?
1. No window coverings in the bedrooms, facing East. Also open to the great room below. Both my friend and I have sleep issues, this was a negative.
.2. The 1/2 bath of the 1.5 is in one of the outbuildings apart from the cottage. We made do with 1 but it was a minor inconvenience.
3. No bathroom on the bedroom level, so you must come down 12 steep stairs. I have a 71 year old prostate so that means 2-3 times a night.
4. Trees are lovely but the "grenades" dropping on the roof from above made getting back to sleep in AM impossible. Understand that it's seasonal/this time of year but a big negative last weekend.
5. Not air conditioned, which I knew. It was OK, but just OK with the fan and swamp cooler with highs in the mid-80s. I was assured that it had been comfortable for all given the tree canopy. If it had been this week I would have died (very heat sensitive).
6. Zero cell on Verizon and Internet fairly slow. I had some business to conduct on a real estate deal and it was a problem.
7. Be aware that you're expected to clean up, put all the dishes away, take out the garbage even though you're paying for cleanup service.
Overall we had a lovely time despite the inconveniences but would have chosen otherwise if we knew what we know now.
David, thank you for your feedback. While our beds & home essentials exceeded your expectations, we’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. We understand how stairs can impact guests with difficult sleep cycles.
What a great trip to Napa and Sonoma. The house is perfectly located with easy access to everything in wine country. It is fully stocked, surrounded by nature and perfectly quiet. We will be back someday. Glenn
Unique country house in the hills above Calistoga
We had a wonderful 3-day stay at this secluded house in the wooded hills above Calistoga. Our mornings started with coffee on the porch while listening to the birds and water sounds from the stream that runs on two sides of the property. We saw a doe with three fawns which walked right past the house. Mornings in the bright wood paneled living room and dining room gave us a feeling of being on a relaxing vacation. We prepared most meals at home in the nice kitchen, with a large window looking out into the woods. Everything was clean and well organized. Of note, there was adequate wifi at the house but it was a little slow for sending high resolution photos. I understand the wifi is in the process of being upgraded.
Kendall provides suggestions based on visitors’ personal interests. So we took a 90-minute downhill walk into Calistoga through woods and vineyards, rewarding ourselves with ice cream across from the old Calistoga train station. Another day we took a 45-minute morning walk to a family-owned vineyard and bought some of their highly rated Malbec and Cabernet Sauvigon wines - better priced than similar wines from nearby Napa Valley. That afternoon we drove 10 minutes to the unique Petrified Forest, formed by the volcanic eruption which also makes this area optimal for vineyards.
Unique and highly recommended, with the owner being an excellent information resource as needed.
