About Nina Schuttert / Giulia Tiriticco / Kirsten Eijkelenboom / Giulia Lattanzio
We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best. Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did. We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental. Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.
Check-in: 4:00 PM
Check-out: 10:00 AM
Max guests:7 (sleeps up to 6 adults)
Please try to be on time for your check-in (which is usually set at 4PM) and in case of delay please send a text message directly to the keyholder.
A stay tax of 1.5 euros per person (for persons aged 12 to 75) must be handed in upon arrival at the house. The tax is only for the first 5 days.
Please do not leave unwashed dishes upon departure and dispose of your waste daily according to the municipality rules that you will find in the house
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Highly recommended. We would go back in a heartbeat.
We stayed 6 nights as Casa Marinella and loved every minute. We used it as a base to visit Noto, the peninsula beaches, some WWII landing beaches, and, most especially, the Vindacari Nature preserve (reviewed separately).
The roof deck is the star of the show. It’s 25’ x 60’ and looks even better than the promotion photos. It’s very private (only one property looks down on it and that unit was not occupied).
There are lots of chairs plus 2 lounges and an area light. We ate all of our dinners up there. The built-in BBQ (not shown in the promo shots) is large and sheltered from the wind. (Speaking of the wind, there was a lot of it when we were there. There are clothes drying lines on the deck, but, when the wind is up, the clothes come down.)
There are 3 bedrooms of about equal size and each has an armoire with shelves and/or drawers. Two of the rooms have 2 single beds; the other has a queen-size bed (with a very, very firm mattress.)
There are two A/C units that do a good job of maintaining the interior temperature and humidity. The one for the bedroom bath area, though, is in the hallway and is only effective if the room doors are left open. There were only the two of us so it was no problem, but if there were more people there could be a privacy issue.
Both bathrooms have great lighting and plenty of drawers. Only issue is that the shower water pressure is a bit weak. The clothes washing machine is housed in one of the bathrooms.
The Wifi works fine when you’re close to the modem, but is spotty to non-existent in the bedroom area. There is a small TV screen. I suppose it works fine, but we never had it on once all week. There’s also a portable CD player (but who brings CD’s on vacation anymore.
The dishwasher works well, but pre-rinsing is advised. The clothes washing machine is quite different from USA models. We contacted Guilia at Homeway and she immediately emailed instructions.
The kitchen is well equipped for most needs (but no whisk!). The refrigerator/freezer is large; only shortcoming was there was only a single ice tray. We shopped at local store in Pachino (a great experience) and cooked 5 nights and ate up on the deck. It was spectacular.
There is a balcony off the kitchen that has a large clothes drying rack.
The house is literally 50’ from the beach. The sand is nice, but the bottom get’s rocky starting 15” from water’s edge, but there are perfect beaches very close by. There is a small beach umbrella in the house plus
Great house for the family, lovely area to stay some very nice restaurants and beeches close by
Pity for the beach
Lovely house, amazing seaview but neglected beach
Wonderful apartment in a great location
Loved this place and would happily go back.
L'appartamento è spazioso, pulito, confortevole e curato.
About Marzamemi: Old maritime traditions are still very much alive in Marzamemi today. Only recently it has become a popular destination for Italians who enjoy the combination of natural beaches and the vibrancy of an authentic coastal village. The village has many restaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produces such as the locally caught and processed tuna and swordfish or the famous cherry tomatoes from nearby Pachino.
- ‘Vendicari’ natural reserve
- The prehistoric caves in Pantalica
- Portopalo/Capo Passero, the most southerly tip of Sicily
- Ragusa Ibla.
The area / going around: San Lorenzo, which lies 2 kilometres to the north of Marzamemi, marks the beginning of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Sicilian coast. Here the shore is characterised by golden sand beaches, turquoise seas and white limestone rocks. San Lorenzo borders on the natural reserve of ‘Vendicari’. Here you’ll find an incredible variety of Mediterranean flora and fauna, exotic beaches and Byzantine ruins. It is also a veritable oasis of rest and tranquillity for an array of bird species.
Heading south towards the south-eastern tip of Sicily, you find a fishing village called Portopalo. Taking the road from Marzamemi to Portopalo, but turning off before an impressive castle on the sea, one can turn left and visit the old ‘Tonnara’, one of the most scenic and extraordinary sights to be seen in Sicily. Noto, a magnificent little city famous for its stunning Baroque architecture, lies 10 kilometres away. You can’t miss the traditional afternoon stroll down its main street.
