Ground Floor apartment located in Nador Street, in the prestigious, central area of District 5. After passing through the shabby chic charm of a typical 19th century Hungarian courtyard, you reach our cosy apartment which has been renovated in a sympathetic fashion; keeping some special features such as the vaulted brick ceiling, whilst furnishing and equipping it to an excellent modern standard. The accommodation is spread over two floors, with the kitchen, eating and living area downstairs, and the spacious bedroom upstairs. There are several dozens of restaurants close by, from inexpensive all the way to first class international cuisine. In fact you are only two minutes away from some of the best and most popular restaurants in Budapest including the Michelin star rated Borkonyha (Wine Kitchen). All forms of public transport -metro, tram and bus are also in the immediate area. The Danube and the beautiful Chain Bridge are a 1 minute walk, and you can visit all the top Budapest attractions on foot. Our English speaking taxi driver can meet you at the airport or train station and take you to the apartment.

About Bridgett Gill
Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our sixties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and a registered charity. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!
Bridgett Gill purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Bridgett Gill chose Belváros - Lipótváros
Why we chose this location: Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves! We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment was a former stables and we have preserved the vaulted brick ceiling which is a unique feature. Being on the ground floor the apartment could have been cold in the winter, so we have added underfloor hearing and have put 3 inch insulation on the walls, making it really cosy when it is chilly outside.

Lovely cozy apartment
The apartment was a great base for A very busy day in Budapest The bed was comfy everything is there what you need in the apartment the only moan were the stairs far to small for climbing up and down in middle of the night for using the toilet , good budget price though . Thank you
What a lovely place!!
All good in this lovely flat <3
Wonderful that you enjoyed the apartment and Budapest! Thank you for writing!
The apartment was very much as expected from the pictures on the web site
We loved our stay in Budapest. The apartment is centrally located and a great starting point for exploring the city. Bridgett, the owner, was very easy to deal with, and responded promptly to our queries. Our visit was marked by the first snow fall of the season which complicated matters. We froze out of the apartment but the apartment was a very warm refuge from the minus temperatures.
Thanks for the lovely review! It's a really cosy apartment so no need to worry about the cold if you are thinking of coming to Budapest in the winter!
A Real Gem
This was our third visit to Budapest and our third stay in Nador 8 and we plan to return again another year. It is a beautiful and cosy modern 2 person apartment very centrally located, close to St Stephens Basilica in Budapest. It has everything you could want - Wifi, TV, Kitchen, sitting area, underfloor heating, and a beautiful bedroom above with vaulted brick ceiling. It is a few steps away from the Christmas Markets and also from plenty of really good restaurants. It is also close to the Chain Bridge over the Danube - you couldn't wish for a better location to explore Budapest from. Bridgett the owner is very helpful and there is a file in the apartment full of great local information. Bridgett can also arrange for Attila, a taxi driver, to meet you at the airport for a fair price and take you to the apartment, give you the keys and make sure you understand how the entry code etc works. It makes life so easy. The only minor drawback could be that the stairs are steep and twist round so if you are not too steady with such things the place may not be for you. We had no problems with them though and we are in our 60's.
Two wonderful days
We loved the location, the comfortable bed, the quirky charm and the helpfulness of having a recommended driver provide transportation and entry access hands on service. The spiral stairs are steep and we had to be really careful during the night as bathroom is on first floor. The brick curved ceiling was a fun surprise. We would stay here again!
Thank you for writing such a lovely review, I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay! The apartment is a charming conversion from an old stable in the courtyard of the house and you do have to be careful on the stairs as mentioned in the text about the property.
Location, great for couple
Second time renter. Properties kept up from 2014 to 2018. Bridget, Atilla and team are wonderful to have on your side when on the road.
Studio is near everything in the centre / old city. Secure, small spot with a lovely upstairs bedroom and bed.
Go for it!
The apartment is in the perfect location, near the Basilica in the prestigious District 5. All the top tourist attractions are within an easy 10 min walking distance, including the Opera House, Parliament, National Art Museum, Castle District and the funicular railway, the Famous Chain Bridge and the Vaci Utca shopping street. It is also close to a supermarket and a covered market where you can by excellent fresh produce. It is also, very importantly, only 2 mins walk from some very good bars and restaurants; the Hungarians have some really excellent wine and food! The nearest metro station is 5 mins walk away, and bus and tram stops are 2 mins away. The apartment is also close to the street which houses all the prime antique shops specialising in Biedermeier and Art Deco furniture. Budapest is regaining its former glory, there is street after street of fabulous architecture, many buildings are fully renovated and many still have their rather shabby-chique charm.
