About Bill or Nancy Batterson
Owners Bill and Nancy Batterson built 'bluewater house' in 2005, replacing their summer cottage on Big Glen Lake. They had retired from General Motors and had previously lived on Williams Lake in Waterford, Michigan. Bill had been an Engineering Director in Flint and Nancy had been a Technical Education Manager at the GM Technical Center in Warren.
Bill or Nancy Batterson purchased this Lodge in 2005
Why Bill or Nancy Batterson chose Glen Arbor
Blil's parents started vacationing at Glen Lake when he was eight years old. It quickly became his favorite place to be and in 1971 he was fortunate to acquire the property on which the original cottage stood. The cottage was used for Summer and weekend vacations for over thirty years. Bill and Nancy began construction of bluewater house in 2004 and have made it their home since May of 2005.
What makes this Lodge unique
Guests at bluewater house will find friendly hosts, a spectacular lakefront location, stunning views of Big Glen Lake, and much to enjoy and do, both there and in the surrounding Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore area.

Relaxing time at Bluewater House
This was the perfect location for our family to relax after a busy summer. Very neat and clean, and the owners were accommodating for anything we needed. We would recommend for a weekend retreat or longer because it was very peaceful!
Perfect vacation spot!
Our family had a wonderful time at the bluewater house. The property and view are absolutely beautiful, and we had everything that we needed inside and out for a perfect Michigan vacation.
We stayed for an extended weekend over Memorial and this property was perfect! Super clean, and close to to town for any entertainment or necessities you might need.
Attentive and pleasant owners, covered all of the bases and we wanted for absolutely nothing. Great spot, hope to be back for a longer stay sometime soon.
Relaxing and quiet

A place to enjoy water, serenity, and nature’s beauty
Our first impression was immediate happiness in our choice to stay at the Bluewater House. It’s tucked away in a quiet, lovely setting within feet of the blue water of Big Glen Lake. Our hosts, Bill and Nancy, greeted us graciously with warm smiles when we arrived. The view out the double sliding glass door was so peaceful and unobstructed. Several flocks of birds, such as geese and mergansers, swam peacefully in front of us and were fun to watch. The rooms were cozy, bright, clean, well supplied, and tastefully decorated with a beach theme. It is a wonderful place for an escape from the hectic, noisy world. Descriptive words for this place would be serenity, quiet, beautiful, and comfortable. It is just minutes from Glen Arbor and Empire, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. A perfect place for a vacation of hiking and biking or just kicking back and relaxing.
Located on West shore of Big Glen Lake adjacent to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Two miles from Sleeping Bear Dune Climb, new Heritage Bike Trail and Lake Michigan shore.
