About Annabel and Jamie WIlson
Originally hailing from North East England and Scotland respectively, we have always enjoyed trravelling and holidaying and seeing outher countries traditions and ways of life. We got a chance to make the permanent move here in 2015, took the bull by the horns and haven't looked back since. We now live in Spain full time as we love the country, the culture, the people and the climate. We hope that you will love it here just as much as we do.
Annabel and Jamie WIlson purchased this House in 2016
Why Annabel and Jamie WIlson chose Salobreña
Its fair to say we viewed quite a few places in our search for a holiday home to rent out, and fell in love with this place immediately. We love the location, high in the historic centre of Salobreña, in an almost pedestrian street, it is a great place to relax. The house is in the traditional Albaycin area, full of lots of narrow streets and walkways lined with tubs and planters full of colourful and fragrant plants. We and a team of skilled builders restored the house in 2016/17, It has been a labour of love, which hopefully shines though, We are proud of our casa and love spending time here. As we spend quite a bit of time in the house ourselves, it is well equipped with everything you should need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Salobreña is an amazing place and a real good hybrid of traditional Spanish living here in the old town and laid back beach resort. It is still very Spanish here and tourism, while it does exist, is not too developed.

Our wonderful stay!
We have been coming to Salobrena for 17 years now and our stay at Annabel and Jamie's beautiful Casa Estrella, situated in the heart of the old town was high up there as one of the best yet!
Fantastic views from the roof terrace which was spacious and so comfortable with all the relevant equipment to relax. Really comfortable sun loungers, a table and chairs with comfy cushions.
Jamie and Annabel met us when we arrived late and gave us a tour of the house which was lovely and we felt immediately at home. The house was well equipped in every way, especially the kitchen for cooking, washing machine, a great selection of games to play, books on the local area ,beach towels provided for a small donation to charity, nice touch, information leaflets for the area and a really detailed manual for the house that literally covered every eventuality.
A wonderful experience that we will always remember.
Thanks Jamie and Annabel, you are wonderful hosts and should be very proud of your lovely home in Salobrena, which has played a big part in our families lives over the many years.
Rob & Helen - Bristol, UK
Dear Rob and Helen, thank you so much for your glowing recommendation and for having loved your time at casa estrella as much as we do. We are thrilled to hear that all the hard work in trying to think of everything guests will want and need for a great holiday has paid off! It was a pleasure to meet you both and hope to see you back soon. Our very best and warmest wishes, Annabel and jamie x
A great place to stay in Salobrena old town just a stroll from many good quality bars and restaurants. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean, well equipped and has lots of little extras not experienced in other properties. A very comprehensive welcome pack awaits you and Annabel and Jamie could not be more helpful.
So pleased casa estrella was everything you wanted and more! Hasta pronto 👍
Wonderful views so take your binoclears
Really nice to put a face to the emails when we met Annabel and Jamie on our arrival.
Upon being left alone at the property which was meticulously clean and sparkling, we dove straight into the much needed basket of basic supplies and had a cuppa tea and toast whilst admiring the view from the terrace. I stupidly forgot to bring my binoculars which would have been glued to my face from looking over at the sea to the Sierra Mountains.
Everything and I mean everything was available for our stay, even down to the washing up basket to take the clothes up to the terrace for drying....fantastic.
The decor was simple and charming and did I mention the cleanliness?!
The air conditioning units worked a treat and powerful too and easy to use, it had more of an artic blast which you need when it’s 27deg at 10pm, rather than feeling like a wee mouse blowing on you.
DVD’s available to watch as there is no English speaking tv, however take your own too because if you have a storm for two days like we did you will not be walking out in it. Saying that though the thunder and lightening was spectacular and amazing to watch but wet wet wet.
The house is in the old town and there are three or four good restaurants and bars in the streets behind the house but low key so you don’t hear anything at the house. The only things we heard were the odd car or moped and a dog or two barking and the glorious sound of the birds and cockerels telling us to get up and watch the sunrise, which we did on most mornings wrapped in a throw from the bed and a cup of tea. Perfect.
All in all a fantastic find and we both wish Annabel and Jamie the very best and keep doing what they’re doing because this place is a treasure.
Thank you Emma, we are so pleases you had a great time, and enjoyed all the facilities available in the house, and that the dvds and games kept you entertained! Yes we too love the views from the terrace, where better to spend time.... hope to se you back soon x
Very well equipped and comfortable. Wonderful views and the setting was peaceful.
We received a very warm and helpful welcome from Annabel and Jamie, who were extremely good hosts. The information book which they went through with us on arrival, was clear and comprehensive. The two of us stayed for a week and had a wonderful time exploring the local area, eating at the nearby restaurant, sitting in the sun and generally relaxing. The old part of Salobrena is fascinating with its ancient winding streets and llth. century Arabic Castle. Distant views from the roof terrace included snow topped mountains, which were spectacular, specially at sunrise and sunset.
There was still a chill in the air being February, but the pellet burning stove kept us cosy. Altogether a very memorable stay and thank you Jamie and Annabel for all your kindly help.
Dear Jill and Krysia, thank you for your lovely comments, we are so pleased you had a great stay and to hear that casa estrella and salobreña were everything you wanted! Hasta pronto!
An attractive well equipped house
Annabel & Jamie were the perfect hosts. We were warmly welcomed, everything was clearly explained, the house was very well equipped and attractively furnished. Despite the cold outside we were kept warm inside by the efficient pellet burner & additional electric heaters. Local hints & tips useful. Shame that there was not one bar or restaurant in the old town open during our stay but ‘downtown’ served us well.
To meet the owners & to be able to contact them easily is, for us, imperative after a couple of bad experiences with air bnb & absent uncontactable owners.
So, well done, Annabel & Jamie, your care & attention to detail is greatly appreciated. Salobrena and surroundings provided us with lots to do - lunch on the roof in the sun, barbecued seafood at beach restaurants ..... January in Andalucia beats January in England!
Dear John (aka David!), Jane and Moira, it was a pleasure to meet you all and we are so pleased you loved your stay in our house and that you had a great time in salobreña despite the unseasonable cold snap, and the lack of open restaurants here in the old town. It can be quiet post Día de Los Reyes, but normally there's one or two places open. Still, as you say there is lots of choice downtown!
thank you for you wonderful review and kind words, we hope to see you back someday.
Thank you Ute, Uwe and Carolina! So happy you all had a great time and loved all the work we have put into casa Estrella, and the great views from our terrace. Salobreña charm is hard to resist! Our best wishes to you all
