Two Weeks in Bergerac
My wife and I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment. It is spacious, bright and stylish - Classic French with a modern twist. We spent two weeks here, and really felt at home , however with a hired car , we were also able to explore the beautiful region with its ancient towns and villages. We enjoyed spending time relaxing in the apartment and garden with its superb view over the Dordogne. Having lunch here with local cheese, pate , bread ( and wine ) was a favourite pastime.
Just a step out of the door and you are into the historic old town, and everything needed was within walking distance. Clare was a very kind host, and we would certainly hope to return.
Thankyou to you both, it was lovely to meet you and to know that you were able to fill your two weeks with such varied trips and to spend time here, in Bergerac, and the apartment, and enjoy the town as you did.
I really hope to see you both here again in the future.
Wonderful hostess, unique apartment
If 10 stars could be given, I would give them for this vacation experience. Clare is an unbelievably kind and generous hostess, and went out of her way to assist us in so many ways. The apartment is very comfortable and is tastefully furnished with everything one could need, plus many antique pieces and lovely art works. The view of the river and the nearby ancient buildings is unparalleled and beautiful. Just to walk out the door into the ancient village is an unbelievable experience. Thank you Clare for a unique experience and for your kindness.
Thankyou for those kind words.
It was a pleasure to meet you both, from such a long way away too
Please come back soon.
Great Location and character apartment
This apartment must be in one of the best locations in Bergerac. Overlooking the Dordogne with the lovely bridge crossing close by. A south facing private garden completes the picture.
The interior of the property is roomy and finished to a high standard with all the equipment you could possibly require.
Situated in the old quarter you are on the doorstep of all the pretty narrow streets and restaurants. We can highly recommend the Kashmir Garden and Quatre de Vin restaurants.
Thankyou John and Sue,
It was lovely to meet you both, and to know that all was well with apartment is great!
You certainly made the best of your time in Bergerac.
Please come back,soon.
Beautiful flat in ideal location
This is a beautiful, comfortable and stylish one-bed apartment on the riverside and right next to the historic heart of Bergerac, with many restaurants and shops literally on your doorstep. Clare was there to meet us and check-in and out was easy. It was too cold in December to use the terrace but I can imagine what a benefit this would be in better weather. We were able to park easily given it was the off-season; it could be harder in summer. There were no TV channels but excellent Internet.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
Thanks for those very kind and positive words.
It,s good to know that December in Bergerac is possible !
We would love to welcome you back anytime.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful.
We are smitten with the charm of Bergerac! Maybe it was the time of year with few tourists thus allowing us to pleasantly walk the streets. Lingering through the outlying towns and sites. Experiencing the wonderful and exceedingly friendly local market on Saturday and Wednesday. Such glorious history. But the wonderful rental of Clare’s Rue Chateau on the lovely Dordogne River made our trip over the top. Her hospitality was beyond our greatest expectation. Rating our stay 5 does not do Clare’s thoughtful and tasteful VRBO justice. A 10 suits it and the surrounding towns and villages. Loved it and will definitely return again in early November. Vive la France!
Thankyou to you both for such appreciation.
You certainly proved that November is a lovely time to visit Bergerac.
It was lovely to meet you both and I lookforward to seeingyou both here next year.
Superlatives are not really adequate in describing the experience of a stay in this apartment . On the edge of the Dordogne river and the old town of Bergerac, this old house exudes stories of its past and envelops the occupants in a calming charm. The photographs in this listing do perfect justice to the immaculate décor . Clare, the owner, has gone a long way beyond normal expectations in her efforts to make this a comfortable apartment. Through her greeting on our arrival with meats, cheese, fruit, and wonderful Bergerac Rosé, to the care she took on our departure to be sure we had had an enjoyable stay, I feel we have made a friend and it was a pleasure to make her acquaintance. We had an amazing nine days in this apartment. If you are looking for a peaceful, restful, holiday with the very best of food, wine, and Périgord scenery right on your doorstep then I absolutely recommend Clare’s apartment. My next stay is already booked.
It was a pleasure to have met you both and experience such grateful happy guests....
Looking forward to seeing you both here again in May,and I know you are coming as you already booked the flights!
Short term parking is possible straight outside the kitchen door, ideal for off loading luggage, shopping etc. There is also free parking by the quay just round the corner from the apartment, and many small carparks which require a small payment per day.
Parking is free Saturday mid day to Monday morning, and all lunchtimes from 12 till 2. There are endless lovely drives around the area and endless places to visit, although it is possible to enjoy the town on foot straight from your kitchen door and beautiful riverside walks just across the road.
