What makes this Cottage unique
Nature lovers can find their paradise in the hamlet of Brookhaven. Just east of Bellport Village, this Long Island south shore community is bounded by the Great South Bay and the lower reaches of the Carmans River, as well as the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. Beaver Dam Creek runs 2½ miles through the middle of the hamlet. It's wildlife heaven, you can watch ospreys do acrobatics and see rabbits, red fox, wild turkeys and plenty of deer, it’s a beautiful country setting. Squassux Landing, operated by the Brookhaven Village Association, offers inexpensive docking. At Hamlet Organic Garden, known as the “HOG”, is a certified Community Supported Agriculture farm, vegetables, herbs and flowers are grown. Preservation efforts by Post-Morrow Foundation, the Brookhaven Village Association and the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society have helped the community retain its bucolic ambience.

We stayed for a weekend only, but completely fell in love with the place! The decor was tasteful, the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and dishes, and it was perfect for the 2 of us! We also enjoyed the beautiful gardens around the property and the wonderful village of Bellport nearby! Dave and Fran were very thoughtful hosts and we hope to come back for a winery weekend in the fall!
Great ! Would rent again in a heart beat !!!
No surprises, just as listed. Would definitely stay again. It was charming, clean, up to date with plenty in the area for restaurants. Enjoyed our stay very much!
VT TO FL
David and Fran were delightful hosts. The cottage was immaculate and beautifully landscaped. We enjoyed our walks on Bay Road...especially the peacocks!
We stayed with David and Fran for a week and a half. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Fran since we were always on the run. The place is adorable, well furnished and highly maintained. We used the washer/dryer and were thankful after the crazy rainy weather so we didn't have to put muddy clothes back in our suitcases on the way home.
The neighborhood is quiet and secure. There is a digital lock to enter and exit with a combo which we found wonderful. You don't have to carry a key!
Because we stayed for a purpose, we really didn't get to enjoy the conservation areas. However, David was really helpful about pointing them out and how to access, as well as how to get to the beach at the end of the street. He also suggested several places to eat and shop.
I would definitely stay again. Don't forget to ask about excursions during warm weather. David captain's his motorboat.
Thanks for your hospitality.
Great place. Great hosts.
Fran and David were the best hosts. They are truly dedicated to making your stay a pleasant and memorable experience. They have raised the bar and set a high standard to which all VRBO hosts should aspire. We highly recommend this venue.
A quaint, bucolic village located on the South Shore of Long Island, Bellport Village has long been a destination for both day trippers and summer residents. It offers a variety of shopping and dining opportunities, along with one of the most well-known summer theatres in the region. Bellport is one of the rare municipalities with its own golf course and tennis complex, an ocean side beach and a bay side beach.
