Paradise in Portugal
Searched for and found online, Andrew and Laura the quinta owners’ were most helpful and very friendly without being intrusive. They were always willing to assist and advice throughout our two week stay.
We went on the 28th August to visit our land near Tabua, bought many years ago. We flew in to Porto early evening and picked up a little Smart rental car at the airport. We stayed overnight in Porto and spent the following day exploring this delightful city. We hope to go back with more time in the future.
We drove the the two and a half hours to the quinta, having received useful and detailed directions from Andrew and Laura in advance. Having spent longer in beautiful Porto than intended we arrived at the quinta mid evening as it was getting dark, to be greeted by Laura and Andrew. We were given a tour with an explanation of the facilities.
Although we had seen the excellent photographs provided on the website entering the house was a revelation. The house was a fantastic country home, a big vase of freshly cut flowers on the large dining room table to greet us. The open plan living area was spacious and elegant with an excellent kitchen, which we made good use of! It felt like home. The two bedrooms were both quiet and comfortable. There was a nice bathroom, with both bath and an excellent shower in the bath.
We woke the next morning and were able to take in the view …. awesome! The lovely granite quinta surrounded by fields and trees. A little terrace by the front door with two chairs from which to view the beautiful garden next to the house, cup of coffee in hand. We felt we had reached paradise.
Everything in the house worked like clockwork, Laura and Andrew were nearby and available to answer any questions. Nearby Tabua is a quiet little town but with good facilities, even an organic shop and a restaurant next door with vegan options on the menu. There are many nice places to visit and walks to be taken.
We really enjoyed our time in Portugal and will certainly be going back. We strongly recommend this house and the delightful hosts.
The best VRBO I've ever rented
I don't know where to begin. The property is impeccably kept, any reasonable accoutrement you could think of that you would need is provided. Spacious, well appointed, with friendly and polite owners who give you all the space you desire, yet are available to assist you. The outside of the property is as stellar as the inside, and the peaceful garden area is a wonderful respite from a busy world. My fiance also enjoyed the pool.
Clean linens, spotless living areas, and all appliances in excellent working order and modern.
Shops and restaurants are near the village of Tabua, and less than an hour to Viseu or Coimbra for a city vibe. The people of Tabua are very friendly, as well.
I have stayed in many VRBO in many countries, and this is, bar none, the finest place I've stayed. You won't be disappointed.

A good decesion
It is a very beatiful place, the garden is a little paradise thank`s to the work of Andrew and Laura. Also my friend and me could help them with their goats and we were squeezing apple juice. And we will thank you and hope that we will come back in the next summer.
Yours sincerly Family Frank and our dog Benny.
Andrew and I are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you love our little piece of Portuguese paradise as much as we do. You were possibly the quietest guests we've ever had, even Benny! It would be a pleasure to host you again sometime. All the best! Laura and Andrew
Andrew and I are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Quinta Serrano and that you had such a lovely time visiting the area and scouring the antique shops. We really do hope that you will visit us again sometime to check out all the river beaches you didn't quite get to!
Quinta Serrano is located in one of the most beautiful and rural areas of central Portugal. Nestled between the Mondego and Alva rivers, this stunning apartment with granite walls, and cathedral ceiling is located in a peaceful and idyllic setting overlooking the Caramulo Mountains. Hikers and cyclists will find many trails right outside their door leading to river beaches, schist villages and panoramic vistas. Nature lovers will be thrilled by hooting owls, plentiful birds and a plethora of butterflies. Coimbra, Viseu & the Serra da Estrela mountains are all less than an hour away. We are also within an easy drive of Aveiro or Porto or even the Douro Valley. For those wanting to spend a day by the sea, Figueira da Foz and Mira are about 60-75 minutes away.
For those wanting to see the local area, we are within easy reach of numerous river beaches located along the Alva and Mondego rivers. These are perfect for families with children of various ages and often have cafes and sandy beaches and places to dive or jump from the heights. The historic shale / schist village of Piodao, the stunning Fraga da Pena waterfall near Benfeita and the beautiful natural forest of Bussaco near Luso make wonderful day trips. Coimbra is a very beautiful city with river cruises, the oldest university in Europe, a botanical garden and where families may want to visit "Portugal dos Pequenitos". Guests will have no trouble finding things to visit whilst they are here.
