A great holiday apartment close to the beaches of Marbella and Puerto Banus
Why Suky Sidhu chose Nueva Andalucía
After much looking around the area we fell in love with the apartment almost immediately. It is close to Puerto Banus yet far enough to avoid the glitz and the hedonistic glamour. Marbella is only a few minutes away whilst Gibraltar, Ronda, Malaga at the most an hour by car. The complex itself is very clean and well maintained. It's not huge, yet has facilities that would suit a place much more built up. The 3 pools offer an opportunity for all ages to swim or just dip in the safe knowledge of a pool guard during the busier periods of the year. If you enjoy eating the area is a foodies heaven. There are many restaurants nearby, Spanish as well as non Spanish, and each to suit the holiday makers budget. However, to truly enjoy Iberian cooking at it's best it's worth taking a drive to Benahavis. The village is famed for not only the number of restaurants, but the quality of food on offer...and all without breaking the bank! Truly a food lovers heaven on earth. The area is also famed for it's golf. Nearby there is Las Brisas, La quinta and Los Naranjos. A little further Rio Real, Sotogrande, Valdarrama, Alcadaisa and San Roque. Most of these courses I have played more than once and will happily offer my opinion should it be needed. Lastly, for the lover of art and culture the area is unparalleled. There are the Dali sculptures near the beach in Marbella. A little further up the road is the Picasso Museum in Malaga and a little further even, the delights of Granada with the Alhambra, a UNESCO world heritage site.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our property is ideal for a couple wanting a bit of me time or a family with young children. The apartment is in the middle of the complex and is reached from both sides by two flights of steps. From the garage there is a lift adjacent to the apartment. The pools are close by but far enough to make it worry free for wandering and inquisitive youngsters. It's also worth noting the apartment is gated and can be secured should young children wish to use the patio. The patio is planted with orange and lemon trees, with vibrant bougainvillea surrounding the front, allowing complete privacy from terrace. There are views of La Concha, the highest mountain in the Marbella area. La Concha is another perfect reason to visit the area. The drive there takes you through mountain slopes covered in beautiful Spanish Pine to a hunting lodge frequented by Franco during his rule after the Civil War. Here you can park and take a walk through through olive groves and alpine meadows to a view point looking over Marbella and towards Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The apartment is also very close to a Mercadona supermarket, a pharmacy and a bank too. There are a number of restaurants and pleasant wine bars surrounding the complex. Up the hill there is the Centro Plaza offering a good choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. A great place to watch the setting sun over the Mediterranean whilst sipping a beer or two. The La Maestranza complex is a gated community and has 24 hour security.

Not completely as advertised , excellent location.
No where did it mention before we arrived that 2 of the beds would be sofa beds in the lounge. This was disappointing and meant we had no downstairs living space. The apartment was clean and the pool area is brilliant. It’s only between €5-€7 for a taxi down to Banus and a 15 minute brisk walk. The apartment had a power fail on our second night that wasn’t left unresolved for 4 hours, this was disappointing. We also didn’t have any hot water for the first few days again disappointing. On our last day, there was maintenance carried out around the pool too with no prior warning. It’s difficult as we didn’t have the number for the owner either.
I’d probably recommend that this apartment is better suited to 4 people rather than 6. The location is excellent. The pool is lovely and is an excellent base if you want to stay a 5 minute taxi ride out of the Port.
Hi Hannah, thank you for your feedback, I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay overall. However, regarding your query with the sofa bed, our website does state there is a double bed in the master bedroom, two single beds in the second bedroom and a large sofa bed that sleeps two in the lounge.
I am also really sorry to hear about the issue with the power failure and lack of hot water. By the sound of it, it appears the power outage was a complex wide issue, which is, unfortunately, beyond our control.
Regarding no hot water for a few days. I'm not sure how or why this could have happened, as the boiler is new and in perfect working order. Nevertheless, to mitigate such problems, I did provide you with a phone number for our agent who deals with such issues at the earliest opportunity. There is also a handbook in the apartment with numbers in case of such problems. You also had our email address, which again would have helped to resolve the issue.
Regarding closing one of the pools for maintenance is again beyond our control. This may have been done for a number of reasons, including health and safety. As mentioned in the description of the complex there are 2 pools, which maybe, could have helped to make your last day more pleasurable.
I hope this has helped to answer some of the concerns you have highlighted about your stay at the apartment. Once again, thank you for your feedback as it can only help to provide a more enjoyable stay for future guests.
Apartment big enough to 'lose the wife' in...
Enjoyable stay in large 2 bed, 2 bath ground floor apartment on a lovely secure and very well maintained complex well within walking distance of all facilities. A short but very green and leafy walk takes you to the large main communal pool area which is very simple but clean and tidy and just what you need in the mid summer heat. We didn't have any issues finding somewhere to sit but it appears the sheltered and toddlers pool areas filled up first.
The apartment itself wraps around the central terrace area with table, chairs and parasol which leads into the well furnished huge lounge and dining area. This in turn follows through to the second bathroom and bedroom onto the extensive main bedroom featuring large wardrobes and plenty of storage to get yourselves organised!
No shortage of places to put things in both bathrooms too.
The kitchen is a little smaller and quite basic but contains all you need..
After a long drive there I was glad not to see the car for several days so we parked in the underground car park which has a handy lift which comes up very close to the apartment which is good for not having to lug the cases very far but there is no doubt getting in, out and parking in the allocated car spot is a fine art in itself. There is no doubt we would have benefited from more instruction on the underground car parking facilities.
Otherwise, the directions to the apartment supplied by the owner from the motorway were very good.
Now I'm going to contradict myself here a little...
One of my personal 'Victor Meldrew style' gripes about most Spanish holiday towns is the lack to typical Spanish tapas bars and sheer multitude of Pizza restaurants of which Puerto Banus and Nueva Andalusia are no exception.
But.....Pasta Caffe on the corner by the La Maestranza complex is an excellent Italian restaurant! It does a roaring trade from the nearby apartment complexes and is well worth a visit or two (if your feeling lazy).
Otherwise, the Mercadona supermarket next door is very handy, as are the rest of the local shops including the butchers where we managed to get ourselves invited to a cheese and wine party one evening!
There are many restaurants heading towards the golf course (still no tapas) as well as the more publicised direction towards the Centro Plaza where Yanks was particularly popular then down to the excellent La Sala before you hit the sheer wide eye popping madness that is....
Thank you for the kind words about the apartment, and most pleased you enjoyed your stay. I will pass your suggestions onto our manager.
I agree 100% it can be a challenge trying to find a tapas bar that is genuine...I suppose it's supply and demand.
Once again, thank you very much for your kind words and look forward to seeing you again.

Lovely family holiday
Lovely spacious apartment in a well kept development with a lovely pool and a great location. Suky and Kulwant could not have been more helpful and kind. They made the whole process very easy for us. Thank you so much.
Great place to stop whilst playing golf for a week
The property is a good size and presents well with everything you need plus air conditioning & WIFI. It is handy for the local golf courses and a pleasant walk into Puerto Banus for a meal/drink.
Secure parking was a real plus. Didn't use any other facilities due to limited timescales.
Party of three people
We have been to this complex 4 times now and we have always enjoyed our stay, all of the apartments, have been lovely, but I have to say this one was fantastic.we arrived early in the day,no probs with check in,the apartment was spotless, and beautiful,so comfortable, lovely patio garden, plenty of shade, furnished to a very high standard,we were contacted a couple of hours later by the owner just to make sure, that everything was as we expected,it was and more,we started our holiday the minute we arrived,as my husband had only come out of hospital three days before we arrived I was a bit anxious, this was a home from home with the most comfortable memory foam mattresses amazing, this allowed for great rest when he needed it,big bonus, the weather was just wonderful,so the sheltered patio was just brilliant, and the pool area is truly wonderful,no shortage of sunbeds,in and out of shade when needed, has got to be our best trip here so far, loved every second, small blip, who ever stayed in the apartment before us did not leave the keys to the main gates,as this complex. has 24 he security this, was only an issue a couple of times, while they were doing there evening patrol around the complex, not a big issue would highly recommend this apartment.

Thank you for your lovely review. So pleased that everything lived up to your expectations, not only of our apartment, but also of the complex too. If you do decide to return to La Maestranza we are more than happy to help.

There are many things to see and do away from the immediate area. There are water parks near Fuengirola and Benalmadena, For those wishing to enjoy dolphin and whale spotting there are many boats leaving Puerto Banus, Marbella and Estepona on a regular basis.
If water is not your thing there is Selwo Safari Park nearby. Well worth a visit.
The La Maestranza complex is a gated community and has 24 hour security.
