About Kate and Chris
We are a family of four who moved to Sarlat in 2004 in search of a new life and new challenges. Well we certainly found both ... A new life and a lot of challenges.. we have enough funny stories and experiences to fill a book and now have a great lifestyle and a business in which we take great pride and enjoy sharing it with others.
Kate and Chris purchased this House in 2004
Why Kate and Chris chose Sarlat-la-Caneda Historic Center
We moved lock stock and barrel to the Sarlat area in 2004, buying a set of empty farm buildings that needed far too much work. But the position and the views had us hooked and nothing came anywhere near a close second. So here we are, several years have past and the renovation and transformation completed, but not without some real highs and lows.
What makes this House unique
The position is magical and just not possible to capture in a picture. We have been extremely lucky to find a property with such a formula of character, views and location. We are close to Sarlat, which is the jewel of the Dordogne, yet in a truly rural setting in stunning countryside with easy accessibility of all of the best touristic sites in Dordogne and Lot.

Stunning views from a lovingly renovated gite.
The gite was one of five on site and could accommodate 2 adults sharing a double room. The living and cooking area are on the ground floor, together with the shower room. The double bedroom was on the first floor. The property was very clean and the owners, welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in the end gite, which was rustic and cosy and had stunning views from the raised balcony. The gite was well equipped for all our basic needs. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, who visited regularly. The pool was clean and welcoming, but the water a tad on the chilly side! However, not a problem on scorching hot days. The complex is in a beautiful rural setting, but you would need your own transport to get about. Overall, we had a very peaceful and relaxing stay.
Thank you Michelle and Iain for both your review and your custom. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope Iain is feeling fit and well with no more unexpected trips to the hospital. It was nice to chat to you both and whenever somebody says they are planning to return it always serves as a pat on the back and tells us we are getting things right. Thank you for leaving the gite in such a great condition. We look forward to seeing you again one day.. Kind regards...Chris and Kate.
A small, much loved gem in a prime Dordogne spot
Comfortable, small but well equipped property with a delightful outlook across expansive maintained grounds to a classic Dordogne landscape. The setting was second to none being peacefully rural whilst central to the region's main attractions. There were several pretty country walks from the door. Chris and Kate, who own Le Fournil and its neighbouring cottages, obviously put a lot of care and love into their holiday lets, they have a comprehensive knowledge of the area and are more than willing to give help and advice to visitors wishing to explore this lovely part of France.
Thank you David and Margaret for taking the time to write this review. We really enjoyed having you both on site and the opportunity to chat and share a bit of banter ( don't you think.. Doctor ) We hope we may see you again one day..
Thanks again.. Chris and Kate.
This was our third stay at La Ferme de la Tour which is in a gem of a location in a rural setting with views over the Dordogne valley, but only a 15 minute trip into Sarlat for exploring/shopping/restaurants. Also, a great central location for the wonderful delights of this region of France. These cottages have a number of repeat bookings which speaks volumes. Book and enjoy!
Thank you Howard and Nicky for your custom and review. Always nice to see you and we look forward to the next time. Look after that arm Nicky.. Take more water with it in the future !! Thanks again.. Chris and Kate.
A Charming hideaway
Very well presented and maintained property. Le Fournil was a charming hideaway. Kate And Chris had thought of everything needed for a relaxing self catering holiday. The property was very clean. There were lots of interesting places to visit. We recommend this property to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing holiday .
Thank you Chris and Anne for taking the time to write a review. Thanks again for your custom and we hope you are relaxed and recharged after you holiday. Kind regards....Chris and Kate.
Thank you Isabelle and Stephane for your review. You are welcome to return whenever you like. It was lovely to meet you both. Thank you again for your custom.. Chris and Kate.
In spite of rain during our entire stay, La Fournil is still a beautiful spot with wonderful views. The gite was immaculately clean and well furnished with everything we needed. We loved it, and it was a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. One small caveat, however. If you are the only guests, as we were at the time we were there, it can feel a bit remote since the hosts live off-site. That doesn't detract from the beauty of the location or the gite - you just need to be comfortable with the isolation.
Thank you Lois and Peter for your review. We are glad that you had a great holiday. We are sorry that we did not get to see much of you but we were like ships in the night.
Thanks again for your kind words.. Chris and Kate..
