We stayed at seagull corner for 5 days and really enjoyed the property. It’s very sweet and we loved the views from the balcony. It is very close to the chain ferry but it really didn’t bother us, I myself am a light sleeper but I didn’t have any trouble sleeping in the room closest to the ferry. The private garden provides a very good view over the harbour and we enjoyed a few evenings of beautiful sunsets. Would visit again!
Great accommodation on the waterside
This maisonette, with 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and nicely appointed living space above, is located very close to the chain bridge, with nice views over the estuary from the small veranda. The immediate area is not very attractive, being adjacent to the ferry waiting zone, but there are adequate shops and a couple of restaurants just moments away. The chain bridge and a passenger boat provide access (for £1.50pp) to the opposite side (Cowes) where there are multiple shops, restaurants and bars in a lovely manly-pedestrian district.
Beautiful location in East Cowes close to all amenities
Perfect location and apartment. Will be booking again next year.
Perfect location and apartment. Will be booking again next year. Noise from chain ferry not a problem.
Great position and views
We loved this house! When we booked it, we understood how close it is to both the car ferry and the Cowes chain ferry/floating bridge (just look on Google maps satellite view, it's between the two), so this was not a surprise and made it so exciting for all the family. We even spotted the house from the deck of the ferry and had parked (allocated space) and gone inside before our ferry had even finished unloading! The chain ferry docks literally a few metres from the back of the house, and whilst you can hear it, we didn't find it annoying and it certainly didn't keep up awake or wake us up, despite being right outside the main bedroom. The windows facing the chain ferry are double glazed, though some others aren't.
The bedrooms are downstairs and the lounge/dining/kitchen area is upstairs. It is well furnished and has basic supplies such as washing up liquid, tea and sugar. The bunkbeds squeaked with any movement, which annoyed my son and amused my daughter! The double bed did not squeak and was very comfortable.
Overall, we were very happy and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Nice, character cottage BUT...
The location is very convenient for the mainland ferry (particularly if on foot) and we did appreciate Digby allowing us to access the cottage earlier than the official check-in time. It is also very close to the chain ferry which does make it easy to get over to West Cowes. However, the chain ferry runs until gone midnight and starts up again around 5am and the noise was very disturbing in the master bedroom which is only single glazed. After 2 nights of disrupted sleep (even with ear plugs), we changed the sleeping arrangements so I could at least get some better sleep in the front bedroom (which was much quieter). My friend slept on the sofa bed in the lounge which was still noisy but he'll sleep through anything! Ironically, the week following our trip, I heard that the chain ferry had been taken out of use temporarily for what was described as noise issues so maybe it had been particularly troublesome at that time. I do feel that double glazing, particularly in the main bedroom would be beneficial though. It was just a shame that I didn't come back from the trip feeling rested, which was one of the main intentions.
