About Mike and Julie Cook
Mike and Julie have lived at Cuckoo Springs for over 15 years. We are smallholders having escaped from teaching and IT. We have rare breed animals and 2 horses and try to be as self sufficient as possible. We converted our 18th century barn for holiday guests in 2009 and we work hard to ensure you have a memorable holiday .
Mike and Julie Cook purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Mike and Julie Cook chose Newcastle Emlyn
We fell in love with the peaceful, magical location of this farm when we first saw it in January 2002. Then when we saw the beach at Penbryn we were hooked! The final decision to buy it was made February 3rd which just happened to be our wedding anniversary. Not many can say, my husband bought be a farm for an anniversary present! As you might guess I am an incurable romantic and we try to make your holiday special and romantic too.
What makes this Cottage unique
We are an active small holding with rare breed pigs, sheep, horses, chickens and a house cow. All of our animals are friendly and we encourage interaction with them (under supervision of course). Children of all ages can help feeding the animals, and older children and adults can be more involved if they if they wish. We allow our guests to enjoy our 5 acre wood and an adjoining 5 acre field with wild flowers including orchids and bluebells. The cottages offer a haven of peace and tranquillity in a secluded wooded valley and are just 4 miles from beautiful beaches and the Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion coast path.. There are a number of very good pubs and restaurants some by the sea and others in the countryside.

Looking forward to returning next year
Tranquil setting, extremely hospitable hosts, wonderful Welsh coast and countryside all around.
We have been returning to the Cuckoo Springs cottages for over 10 years and it never fails to disappoint. You can feel your shoulders relaxing as soon as you head down either of the narrow aroads leading to this idyllic location. This time we stayed in the smaller cottage which had been recently redecorated but retains the cosy charm. We visited our favourite haunts including the beaches at Llangrannog and Penbryn. Lots of choice for places to eat nearby. Our son enjoyed helping out with the animals yet again, and it was lovely to spend some time with Mike and Julie. See you again very soon !!
Thanks Jo for your lovely comments. As always Rowan was very helpful feeding the animals.
We're looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Charming cottage for a couple
Beautifully refurbished rural country cottage in a peaceful situation with lots to explore in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Julie and Mike's farm which we can highly recommend.
Beautiful cottage, home from home
Nestled in a secluded valley, this beautifully appointed cottage (decorated to a high standard, well equipped and spotlessly clean) is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and/or get back to nature. There are plenty of walks along the nearby coastal path or on pristine sandy beaches. Mike and Julie are consummate hosts, being very informative and helpful. I particularly enjoyed my carriage driving with Julie and Sam (the horse) - definitely a highlight of my holiday. I shall be recommending this cottage to friends and family. Only one complaint - it was TOO hot at 31 degrees!
Thanks Pauline for your lovely comments. We enjoyed having you to stay and hope to see you again soon.

Cosy cottage in a tranquil setting.
Cuckoo Springs cottage is the smallest of the three cottages at this location but it is perfectly formed. It provides comfortable, well equipped accommodation including a log burner for those cooler days/ evenings. Mike and Julie make you very welcome, providing a handy welcome pack with homemade scones. They patiently encourage the children to help with the animals and will also show you the woodland walk where you can see snowdrops, bluebells and orchids depending on the season. The area is beautiful with stunning scenery from the coastal path and several beaches to explore. There is a good choice of restaurants and pubs - including takeaways if you prefer to stay in with the log burner. This is a special spot in West Wales and we will certainly return.
A lovely quiet farmhouse cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cuckoo Springs. The cottage was homely and had everything we needed and the fresh scones and bread provided for us upon our arrival were very much enjoyed. We loved meeting the animals on the farm and the owners couldn’t have been more welcoming. We hope to visit again.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments. We hope to see you again soon.
