Gite at vineyard, with private pool for Gite
In the sunny south of France are surrounded by vineyards, our cozy authentic holiday home and our gîte. The Minervois region, located between the mountain ranges of the Corbières and the Montagne Noire - is a lovely gently flowing wine region. At a distance of about forty kilometers you can spend a day at the beach and then spend days in our oasis of peace.
The house and its location
The walls of our house are about half a meter thick and the relatively small windows keep the heat outside. The house is part of an old hamlet, built around a small château.
The vegetation is very old, high plane trees and poplars where the sound of the wind sometimes reminds of more northern regions.
The house is at the end of a cobblestone path that leads to the vineyards. It is a quiet place, not too lonely on the edge of a farming community. Puichéric is about 2 km away where you can go walking or cycling along the Canal du Midi in the morning delicious croissants and where everything is for sale.
Layout and layout of house and garden
The house is an elongated building where the gite is a separate part of it. The gîte is located at the front of the house and is facing south. There are two terraces, one covered, actually an 'outside dining room' and a second terrace at the pool for sunbathing. When you enter through a private front door you suddenly find yourself in a surprisingly large high room, type 'loft'. White plastered walls, concrete floors and an interior of the 'French campaign'. The kitchen area is attractive and basic and the made bed has a mosquito net so you can sleep with the windows open. A cot can be added in a second room. The adjacent small private shower room has gray tadelakt walls with a spacious shower, sink and toilet.
The swimming pool is on a salt basis and is located in the private backyard. Our gîte has a view of the swimming pool and also a separate shaded terrace with terrace furniture and direct access to the swimming pool. The sun terrace is located around the pool and is equipped with sunbeds and chairs. The pool is child-friendly. After swimming you can immediately start a wonderful walk or bike ride through the vineyard and along the Canal du Midi, and walk straight past the farmer for fresh fruits, vegetables and a bottle of wine.
There is also a cupboard full of reading and comic books and board games. The entire domain is equipped with WIFI both in the gîte and outside. This cottage is located on the ground floor and is suitable for 2 to 4 people. The hostess and host have their own holiday home, their 'outside' is on the back of the house: the two houses are well separated in terms of privacy.
In short, guests can enjoy a special place that deserves the appropriate predicate: 'as god in France'.
What we enjoy is the vastness of the landscape, the undulating vineyards, which are different in every season: young green in spring, and deep brown / red in autumn.
Atmosphere people as we are, we go into the villages on many market days: on terraces we drink the famous café au lait or later in the day, a good glass of Minvervois. By our nice restaurants - especially at noon - guests find a list in the house and of course we are extensively 'questionable'.
The Canal du Midi was the deciding factor for us to land in this area. Less than ten minutes walk from our house you can find the coolness under the plane trees with a picnic basket, and stretcher under your arm. Softly little boats are passing by. At the sluice, old 'Puichéricers' sitting on benches - like old-fashioned pictures - look for each other and the shadow. At the ports of Trèbes and the nearby Homps it is a pleasant crowds and you can rent boats.
The historically impressive Kataren country is then littered with castles, caves (including Cabrespine) and the town of Minerve, where the region is named, attracts many visitors. The coast is very varied in terms of nature and the road to Narbonne-plage, with its pine trees, vineyards and sea views, evokes the south in an optima forma. Lac de Bages is a must.
On the hottest days you see in the Minervois a lot of cars in the direction of Montagne Noire: forests and reservoirs offer the then sought after cooling. About 6 km from our house there is a small inland lake: 'Le Lac de Jouarres'. Surfers can do well here on a small scale: it is a true family beach with surveillance, shade and a restaurant ... On the Aude canoeing (rental / departure from Puicheric) and rafting (near Limoux). Carcassonne, widely known as a monumental walled city, also has a golf course.
With this subjective painting we can still fill pages, but we invite family, friends and tenants to come and enjoy this wonderful place.
