With its far-reaching views across gently undulating countryside and the beautiful village of Cisternino, a garden of whispering olive trees, Zen-inspired interiors and a pulse-slowing stone pool, Trullo di luce invites repose. After a couple of days of resting, however, you might like to take advantage of the property's strategic location and explore the area, from the beaches and towns of the Adriatic coast (15km) to the charms of the Valle d'Itria.
Inside: accommodation at Trullo Di Luce is spread over the main Trulli and a lovingly restored lower level. The former is designed to embrace the stunning architectural features of the trulli, not least the honey-coloured local stone floors with under floor heating and pale walls perforated by small windows and billowing white curtains. These aspects are subtly juxtaposed with modern elements including the handmade natural olive wooden furniture, stunning art work and large sliding glass doors of the central section and the lower living level, allowing this trullo to be filled with light.
The main entrance takes one into an open entrance hall where there are two king-sized bedrooms with local stone floors, large handmade wooden beds and artfully designed unique bedroom furniture, including chest of draws, side tables and wardrobes. There has been no expense spared on the memory foam mattresses down to the fine details of the Egyptian white bed linen and soft luxury pillows, white cascading curtains hang down from the windows, next to the air-conditioning which is in every room. Off this is The family shower room, which has original local tiles, plus stone and wood finishes, and bright large mirrors, bringing elements of the outdoors inside and creating a relaxing space that has nature at its heart.
Next to this is the stunning Trullo bedroom with a further handmade king-sized bed, delightful furnished bedside tables, chest of draws and plenty of hanging space. The trullo roof give such a sense of height and light creating a truly serene sleeping environment.
To the left of the hallway down a few stone stairs, leads you into an open-concept space of another trullo cone, with a mariners office table and chairs for a study, that leads directly into the large cone that houses a stunning large olive dining table with ten contemporary rustic olive dining chairs, further is the open living/ kitchen area, furnished with soft large sofa cushioned on raised beds of stone, making the most of the delightful relaxing space in front of large contemporary fireplace and huge glass doors that look out over the olive gardens. The stylish U-shaped kitchen is housed in the furthest Trullo cone, with top of the range Smeg appliances, continuing the theme of vintage classics.
Further in the living area there is a stone steps that winds down to a large sleeping quarters, comprising a double bedroom (fully furnished), plus a high quality large double sofa bed. There is another larger walk in shower room and a utility room, with washing machine and tumble drier. This bedroom has its own access to the surrounding gardens and a shaded sitting area.
The grounds of Trullo di Luce are a classic synthesis of Puglian country living with a modernist touch. Sun-baked earth, planted with age-old olive and almond trees. Dry-stone walls surround the property and aromatic Mediterranean plants and shrubs scent the air. Accessed from the front of the main house leads out to an original stone (chianche) terrace, furnished with comfy outdoor furniture.
Outside the large doors of the living area is the dreamy, well-shaded al fresco dining and lounge area, which overlooks the pool. Where a large white pagoda houses a huge wooden table with soft cushioned on raised wooden seating.
The tempting natural curved pool is bordered by grass and sun loungers and offers wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. It is heated in spring and autumn making the trullo a charming home for swimming all year round. It is 9x4 and has large steps leading in and a big shelf seat inside for sitting and playing for all ages. The pool itself is only 1.30 mts deep, making it safe for all ages.
There is plenty of parking on acres of private land, completely isolated but within a minute’s reach of so many of the lovely neighboring villages.
Trulli di Luce has a wonderful private country-house feeling but the lively town of Cisternino is only a few minutes drive and the beaches only 14km away. The historic whitewashed 'Città Bianco'-Ostuni is only a 10min drive away, as well as Fasano, Alberobello, Locorotondo and Martina Franca .
