Gogascony is situated in beautiful rural Gascony 7km from Eauze, the capital of the Armagnac region. A former Armagnac domain it is surrounded by fields and vineyards, wine being the local industry, with open views to the Pyrenees. It is set in 5 hectares of private land with a large 12x 6 m fenced swimming pool, swings, croquet badminton and boules in the garden. The accommodation comprises La Maison de Gardien which comfortably sleeps 8 and the small but beautifully formed Pigeonnier which has its' own access and private garden. The owners live in the Maison de Maitre.
The property can be reached from Biarritz, Bordeaux, Toulouse Pau and Tarbes (lourdes) airports. The Pyrenees are about an hour and a half away as are the beautiful surf beaches of the Atlantic coast, ideal for a day trip. Golf de Guinlet at Eauze is 10 minutes away and at Nogaro (18km) there is a Formula 3 race track and light aero club. Barbotan les Thermes (12km) has an 80 hectare lake which provides for most water sports and a thermal spa.
There are many excellent music festivals held annually in the Gers, the most famous being Jazz at Marciac in the first two weeks of August, Tempo Latino at Vic Fezenzac and the Country Festival at Mirande. Course Landaise (non violent bovine spectaculars) are held throughout the summer, most villages having their own arena, and for the bravehearts, corridas and novilladas. Night markets are held regularly in July and August for shopping, eating and drinking and people watching.
The notable local sites of historical interest are Seviac, with its beautifully restored mosaics and Larresingle - the Carcasonne of the Gers! There are english bastides dating from the 12th century and picturesqe villages all around.
