Beautifully refurbished romantic and spacious private New Forest apartment.
Alan and I worked together for many years in hotels around the country before bringing up our family and eventually buying this lovely old pub, which we had admired since visiting it when we first moved to the New Forest. Our children are grown up now and so we were able to devote ourselves to the Red Lion.
David purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why David chose Lymington
This pub has such a lovely atmosphere. It is cosy and the very walls seem to welcome you when you arrive. We converted the first floor into a letting apartment as we know that, like ourselves, many people love to stay in an authentic old pub.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is completely private and although we do not provide breakfast our guests tell us it is a treat to relax over dinner and a bottle of wine knowing that they can just slip away upstairs whenever they like. The pub downstairs is full of genuine antiques and artefacts, fascinating to explore the different rooms, each with its own character. You are our only resident guests and so are very important VIPs to us as we love to show off our pub and this beautiful area!

Relaxing Break Away
My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in August, it was a perfect base to explore the New Forest from. A lovely little apartment that has everything you need, ideal for anyone looking to relax and unwind.
We ate in the pub 2 nights, the food was really good and there was so much more I would've like to have tried from the menu.
The owners and staff were lovely, really friendly and made us feel welcome.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend as somewhere to stay or just stop for a bite to eat!
The Red Lion stands in the ancient New Forest village of Boldre with it's Saxon church and within the New Forest National Park with free roaming ponies, pigs and donkeys. Close to Lymington with it's famous yachting marina. Lymington is a pretty Georgian town with a lively Saturday Market and ferries to the Isle of Wight from the cobbled quay. Easy access to the lovely southern beaches of Milford-on-Sea, Highcliffe, Christchurch and Poole. A little further is Weymouth and in the other direction the home of the Royal Navy at the Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth where you can visit HMS Victory and the NEW Mary Rose museum. Very local attractions include Beaulieu Palace, Abbey and National Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens with it's small gauge steam railway and lovely arboretum. Horse riding, walking, cycling and sailing are all popular New Forest activities in all weather and for a little retail therapy Southampton's West Quay shopping centre. Above a 15th century traditional New Forest pub well known for it's food, winners of Marstons 'Southern Food Pub of the Year' and members of the New Forest Marque which ensures fresh local produce is used, a quintessential New Forest pub with log fires and a genuinely warm welcome. Only an hour from Winchester and 90 minutes from central London yet firmly within the New Forest where medieval traditions still survive and can be explored at the New Forest Visitor Centre in Lyndhurst. The local villages are fascinating; Burley with it's history of dragons and witches where you can take a horse drawn wagon ride into the forest, Brockenhurst which has a rail link to London and the excellent Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club (yes, spelled differently), Keyhaven which has salt marsh walks to spot sea birds, lovely breezy walks beside the sea along the spit to Hurst Castle and views of the needles and the Isle of Wight, Beaulieu, which has not only the Palace House, a member of the Treasure Houses of England consortium, and the National Motor Museum (currently housing the James Bond car collection) but sits beside the lovely tidal Beaulieu River and leads on to Bucklers Hard, a Tudor boat building village with a museum of it's own. The Red Lion is in a quiet spot yet only a short walk onto the open forest or into bustling Lymington and a short drive from the New Forest beaches. A country area with shady lanes, beautiful churches and wildlife in abundance, with walks right from the door.
