So very peaceful! Beautiful sunsets and views of the bay!
We enjoyed every day of our stay! The beach property is lovely! The trees, nature, beautiful sunsets, walks on the beach and listening to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.....so peaceful! There is nothing like waking up in the morning to a view of the bay! Sitting out on the deck with a warm cup of coffee and watching the waves break gently on the shore; there is nothing like it! The cottage is cozy and we loved using the fireplace on some of the cooler evenings. The sun porch was great during the day to sit out and have breakfast and lunch overlooking the bay!
We enjoyed this cozy little cottage right on the Bay with beautiful sunsets.
Smith Beach Cottage September 2018
The neighborhood is very quiet and the evenings so dark I slept deeply and woke so rested. The view is spectacular and the water is so clean. Both are amazing. Don't expect luxury. This little place is comfortable for folks who have pets and don't want to worry about fancy furniture. The beds are very comfortable. The Owners are very responsive and helpful. If you like history this part of the Shore is a great place to explore. We will be going back again.
Loved the private beach!
For us this was a great place to get away and relax. The private beach area was wonderful especially if you have a dog. We brought our kayaks and paddled out to the sandbar. I did some fishing out of my kayak and caught lots of speckled trout and sea mullet. We found the bed in the bayside bedroom to be very comfortable. Kitchen had what you needed to cook your own meals. The bathroom is small and a bit cramped but everything worked just fine. This is an older house but we were comfortable. The internet worked just fine for us but didn't use it a lot. Never did get the TV to work but we didn't care because we didn't come to watch TV and I told Bonnie we didn't. The property is conveniently located to Cape Charles, Chatham Winery, Food Lion and many other things to do. The owners are very responsive through the entire rental and returned our damage deposit quickly. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for letting us rent your place. I have to give a plug for the sunset cruise on The Miss Jennifer. Only $15 a person and you can bring your favorite beverage and food. We brought wine and cheese as we cruised into the beautiful sunset. Then enjoyed all the lights along the shore as we cruised back to the dock. Stay here and come for some fun on the Eastern Shore!
awesome beach, awesome views
My family and I stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The beach was private and even at high tide provided plenty of space to play in the sand. The little deck with built in benches was a great place to watch the sunset and have a few cocktails with my husband. The kids were able to swim pretty far out without the water being too deep.
The house is small and a bit dated but certainly provided everything we needed - no complaints! The neighbors were friendly and helpful.
Bonnie checked in with us multiple times prior to our stay to recommend we bring various things (water shoes for kids, for example) and also to let us know there were beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards available so that we didn't have to pack our own (super helpful!). We will definitely be back in the future, for a much longer stay.
Cute Little Cottage in a Lovely Setting
We just stayed here for two days earlier in July and had a very nice time. We really enjoyed having our own beach with warm, clear, calm water to enjoy. Our dogs did too! Thanks Bonnie and Rick for allowing us to bring them. There is a nice sized yard for games- lots of corn hole and horseshoes played. The cottage is "cozy" and ready for an update but the owners are aware of this and plan to update a little each year. They just added new windows and painted floor to the porch. They're thinking of adding an outside shower/toilet/laundry next year which would be very nice. I'm all about sunset views and I wasn't disappointed. We had a nice hike at nearby Savage Neck Dunes, a combination of beach and maritime forest paths. Had dinner at The Oyster Farm in Cape Charles. Excellent food, mojitos, and sunset views. We also checked out the shops in Cape Charles. Charming town. Bonnie and Rick were very responsive and we would stay here again.
Wonderful festivals throughout the year! Beautiful outdoors! Chincoteague pony swim-less than an hour away from our cottage on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful country side, rich in history.
