The Garden Apartment at Glasven sits within a one-acre garden overlooking open farmland with views to mountains, glens and rivers. With an interior matching the owner’s high standards, the apartment is well suited to the less able visitor.
Easy driving to the East and West Coasts and the Highland capital Inverness, shops are only a short distance away in Muir of Ord, as are restaurants and fuel. Many walks and both coastal, castle and gardens to visit.
WHAT MAKES THE GARDEN APARTMENT SPECIAL
Set all on one level with sloped access to the front door from a visitors car park, and into a gravel garden. The Garden Apartment is is fully adapted to assist those who are less able.
Entering via a private hall into a spacious kitchen/diner then into an inner hall with access to a toilet with disability bar and washbasin.
The sitting room is to the front with views over open countryside to the mountains, and sunsets, a patio door leads out to a secluded gravel garden. The double bedroom, with 1 double bed, to the rear, has a large window overlooking this garden, and a wet-room en-suite, with safety rails, comprising shower, toilet and washbasin.
Whilst less-able friendly the Apartment is fully useable by those not requiring support.
Our lane finishes just a few minutes walk along in Clash Wood with forest paths and access to the River Orrin.
The gardens are visited by a wide range of wildlife throughout the year with frequent sightings of Red Kite and on clear days Ben Wyvis' Golden Eagle may be seen. We have up to 30 varieties of bird visit the garden on a regular basis with Red Kite and Buzzards among those frequently seen.
Depending on the time of year we are visited by Deer, Pine Martin, Pheasant, Partridge, Hares, Field Voles and at night the Owls can be heard calling.
Golf, whisky and fishing need no introduction and we can point you to the best, with the nearest, the award winning Glen Ord distillery and the Muir of Ord golf course within 3 miles.
Local food supplies are readily available, Highland meat, award winning cheese maker, fresh fruit in season, fresh fish straight from the catch, and excellent bakers.
We are keen on well served, good food and will give each of out guests the latest tips on local eateries in their Welcome Pack" of information sheets, and travel tips with routes and maps for days out, both long and short.
It is possible to park up alongside harbours and firths to watch Dolphin, Porpoise, Whales, Seals or take to the water on marine trips.
Castles abound in this area, many open to the public so bring your National Trust card to go into SNT sites. Dunrobin Castle, privately owned but open to the public, outside Golspie is a great visit with an outstanding Falconry Display by one of the worlds top experts.
The Garden Apartment sits well placed for visits in all directions: Inverness 20 mins, Loch Ness 30 mins (a wonderfull round trip along the "tourist" Northbank and undiscovered Southside).
To the East - The villages of the Black Isle, Avoch, Fortrose, Rosemarkie, Cromarty, within aout 20 min. Nairn, Fort George, Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle all about 30 mins with the Moray Coastline 40 min. Dornoch, Golspie & Dunrobin Castle about 60 min
To the West - Rogie Falls, Ben Wyvis, 15-20 min, Corrieshalloch Falls 30 min, Ullapool, Kinlochewe, and Loch Carron 40 min and the famed Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) road to Applecross 2hrs.
Within varied driving distances visitor will be able to access: Trout or Sea fishing, golf, horse riding, museums, archeological sites, boat trips (inc wildlife watching), shoreline vantage points, distillery tours.
Excellent food suppliers inc. famed cheese makers, and smokehouses, match recommended cafes and restaurants are on your day-out routes in all directions
We are totally Eco-friendly and Chemical free due to the owners health problems (M.E.). We will supply all toiletries, (except toothpaste and toothbrushes and deodorants) and household products inc. midge repellants for your entire stay.
