Attractive, roomy Vermont farmhouse
We just stayed at this property for the second time and found it as appealing as before. The owners, Cynthia and Phil, are highly responsive and thoughtful; we arrived to find that they had shoveled the outside paths and parking area (our visit featured LOTS of snow), made sure the house was toasty, and left us a nice selection of local breakfast items in the refrigerator. The house is well appointed for those who want to cook and easily sleeps 8 people. Overall, it is a carefully maintained, inviting property in a lovely part of north-central Vermont. Highly recommended!
home away from home
Two friends and I rented this property for a week while we attended a graduate school residency. This was the perfect spot to come home to after a long day of studying! The beds were cozy, everything was clean and there was charming decor in every room. The pond is so peaceful and we saw deer our first morning there. We loved being there and have plans to return next fall. I would just note we did not have cell phone service at the house, but wifi works reliably so you don't ever have to be out of touch.
All communications were extremely prompt and accurate. We are so grateful to have had a home away from home for the week! Thank you!
Vermont country retreat
We have rented many homes in different areas of the country and this was one of the best ! It was a perfect getaway for our family of 4 adults and 2 dogs. It is a very comfortable house with alot of room and great kitchen with everything you need for cooking dinners. We enjoyed swimming in the clearest pond I have ever seen and kayaking in West Hill Pond, which was very accessible from a clearly marked trail . Cynthia was a great host and is very responsive. We mentioned we were bringing lobsters from Boston and when we arrived the lobster pot was on the stove ! With two daughters living in Burlington (1 hour away ) I know we will be back
Like last summer, another great visit!
Arrived to find the farm house sporting a new coat of paint. Looks spectacular and enhances the beautiful perennial gardens. The welcoming wine, cheese and bread made us feel at home. A bonus in the August visit is the ample supply of blueberries for picking and adding to one's breakfast cereal or a dessert. This was our second annual visit though a month later. Some July perennials had passed but were replaced in beauty by the August versions. Although the dry weather had reduced pond water replenishment the many turtles and frogs did not seem to mind, nor did we. And the evening visit by deer to test the ripening apples put our Ruffie on alert.
Cynthia's farmhouse is well deserving of our second visit and more.
Comfortable and charming farmhouse
My husband and I enjoyed the Cabot farmhouse very much
Big sprawling house with lots of room
The gardens are beautiful and you are overlooking a small pond as well
Nearby West Hill Pond was adequate for swimming and kayaking-not very big or deep but it is a very quiet area
The house has most everything you need-plenty of books in many areas of the house
There is tv-no cable but Hulu etc available
The 3 bedrooms upstairs do have comfortable beds-just be aware the third bedroom is a futon
We did bring our own kayaks-the ones on the property are not really in very good condition to use and the swim pond near the house is not really a pond you would want to actually swim in
All in all would definitely recommend this rental-charming and peaceful
Thank you, Mary, very much, for your kind review. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit.
And, thanks for alerting us to the low water levels in both ponds. We had no idea; we’re in Montreal) That explains why the kayaks allocated for your use were not there for you; they were re-located. 😯 Apologies for our ignorance and failure to alert you. (I think you saw some river kayaks, stored for family.)We’ll be sure now to let potential visitors know about the water levels. Many thanks!
A lovely slice of Vermont heaven!
What a wonderful home! My favorite room was the kitchen. I attended a pot luck dinner and a contra dance in Marshfield one evening and was pleased to be able to have plenty of room to prepare my contribution to the dinner while visiting with my guests. Great having the washer/dryer so handy and loved the sunroom. But most of all - oh, the gardens - beautiful flowers & rocks. We enjoyed a fabulous few days. Thank you very, very much for sharing.
