About Britta Sporkmann
I fell in love with the beautiful area of Touraine about 15 years ago. Converting this lovely stone barn into a holiday home has been a wonderful and rewarding project. I try to spend as much time at la Vernatrie as possible. And while I'm back in Bochum, Germany to work in my job as a lecturer at a vocational college it gives me great pleasure to know that the house is not empty, but that it is being enjoyed by people from different parts of the world, who will hopefully feel as much at home there as I do.
Britta Sporkmann purchased this House in 2007

Fantastic country life!
We spent 7 days in the holiday home of Britta and enjoyed it very much. Communication before and during our stay was always quick, friendly and easy. The house is exactly as described and was absolutely clean, cozy and where we immediately felt at home. It has all the comfort that you need. The location is perfect if you want to relax and enjoy the countryside. Quiet enough with all the interesting places nearby. Many castles in the area and not far from Tours. We went to the Center de Création Contemporaine for contemporary art in Tours. Well worth a visit. We recommend this house!
Merci, Annemarie & Luuk, for your lovely review!
A lovely, well resourced cottage in a v quiet rural location, with beautiful villages close by
The cottage is v well located, standing on its own in a generous plot, with views over countryside for miles around.
Internally, it is very comfortable. Downstairs is open plan, with a v good kitchen area and with all the appliances you will need. Beds and bedrooms are also v comfortable and the showers for both rooms are v good.
Although there is wi-fi, because of the rural location, it is not that great, although Britta did all she could to make it work for us. Also, the patio is in need of a new parasol as it is a real sun trap and too hot to sit there without one. Britta did not know the original one was broken and is replacing it.
There are many beautiful villages around about to visit and Loches is only 15 minutes away. There is a large Super U there but the town itself is very interesting, with an historic centre that includes a Dongon and Chateau. Alos, Tours, Amboise and the Loire valley are less than an hour away.
In summary, we enjoyed a wonderful two weeks and would certainly highly recommend the property.
I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your stay.
The parasol will be replaced promptly. :-)
Lovely place to get away from everything.
Beautiful cottage with everything you could want for a relaxing stay. The nearest town of Loches is only 15 minutes away and had a lovely market on Wednesday and Saturday. Well worth a visit. Beautiful Chateaux within an hours drive. Went to a lovely market in Chinon.
thanks for your lovely review.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. :-)
Really lovely gite it had everything we needed.
We really enjoyed our stay in Loire the weather was glorious the surroundings beautiful we watched some really exceptional wild life very close by. The gite had everything we needed and more it is in a lovely quiet location. We would recommend it.
Excellent house in lovely location
House was exactly as described and we felt at home immediately. Fully equipped with nothing left for the visitor to provide. Interior has been sympathetically restored giving a really "cottagey" feel and with, for our holiday in April, excellent heating.
All the renowned Chateau of the Loire are within easy reach with Loches merely a few minutes away.
A delightful holiday.
Perfect getaway location
A lovely converted barn in a very quiet and rural location. The barn has been very well renovated with lots of its original features retained but having an excellent kitchen with modern appliances and good water system for the showers etc. Lots of places to visit within an easy drive and the local roads are very quiet with hardly any traffic. Plenty of outside space for sitting / eating and you can see across the fields for miles. All the surrounding villages have bakers and there is a big supermarket only 15 mins away.L ots of restaurants in Loches nearby too. Britta , the owner , always responds quickly to emails and is very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing rural location.
Very quiet and rural location, within easy reach of the Loire Valley with its magnificent castles and vineyards. Close to the pretty medieval market town of Loches with local market and good shopping facilities.
A wide choice of restaurants nearby, from rustic local cuisine to world-class fine dining.
Great for a walking or cycling holiday. Golf course nearby.
Ideal starting point for a tour of the famous chateaux and wineries of the Loire Valley.
Numerous cultural events (local festivals, exhibitions, concerts, antique markets etc.) during the summer months
