About Helen & James Gray
We are a retired couple - James previously worked in the City (London) and Helen in a GP surgery as a psychotherapist. We have two sons and one grandson. Besides the latter, our passion is gardening and we are always seeking new ways to develop the different areas of the garden at Petites Cotes. Our chief desire is to give our guests pleasure as well as relaxation in the beautiful surroundings of Perigord Vert. We spend time in both London and France. We are members of a book, history and gardening club and attend the local English speaking church in France. We love eating out especially as there are many inexpensive restaurants in the area.
Helen & James Gray purchased this Cottage in 2004

Beautiful property and a lovely warm welcome
Petites Cotes was perfect for our needs. Our teenage boys loved the heated pool, games room and badminton court. Our dog loved the grounds and the lovely walks in the area. The house has everything you could wish for included in the price and everything was clean and tidy on our arrival with a lovely welcome pack waiting for us.
Verteillac is only 10 minutes away and has some lovely little shops and the local area has excellent markets also. One of the best restaurants we found was Le Cours de Miracles in Verteillac which has beautiful food at a very reasonable price.
We received a really warm welcome from Helen and James, who live next door. They were always on hand if we needed anything, but very discreet also and gave us total privacy.
We would definitely recommend this lovely
gite and hopefully we will be returning again.
Thankyou Helen and James for a wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting.

Thank you for sending in such a lovely a review which was most flattering and made us both 'purr'! It was fun having you staying in LPM and the boys were delightful, also well mannered and respectful. Thank you as well for giving us permission to sneak off to Bordeaux for the weekend whilst you 'held the fort' and watered our cuttings.
A family friendly, well kept and stocked secluded gem, with stunning grounds and a great pool
We cannot recommend LPM highly enough, Helen and James were very welcoming and discrete. We had a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable couple of weeks making the most of the secluded quiet of this lovely house, excellent pool, extensive grounds and beautiful surrounding areas. For a family of 4 with two pre-teen girls LMP was ideal with enough space for us all to enjoy and a pool that was warm. There was a well equipped games room for wet days and we loved the all weather badminton court in the cooler evenings. The local facilities were good with an excellent bakery. The canoeing and high ropes were a real success and we were not disappointed when we ate out, not that we did too much as we just enjoyed meals under the canopy of the vine on the veranda of LPM.
Thank you so much for such an encouraging review which we both appreciated. It was a pleasure having such a lovely family staying in LPM and thank you for leaving it all so spick and span when you left and do tell the girls that their pop-up French flag is still propped up on our sideboard and that the letters especially the 'E' are holding tight!
Wonderful cottage in beautiful grounds
We had a wonderful week at les Petite Côtes. A lovely cottage set in a beautiful garden surrounded by picturesque countryside. Helen and James are lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome and we look forward to seeing them again when we return to the area. We would highly recommend the property to families looking for a cosy base with a lovely pool and plenty of facilities to entertain the whole family. Close to Verteillac.
Thank you so much for that lovely review - much appreciated - truly a real pleasure having guests like you. The LPM was left immaculate and your boys are to die for........!! So charming and polite.
Outstanding and very well equipped, clean and we were spoilt with so much to do.
We had the most wonderful time, there was so much to do at the property and in the surrounding area, our girls loved spending as much time as possible in the large pool. We spent many a pleasant evening barbecuing and playing Boules. Helen and James were the most accommodating hosts and were always on hand to give us advice on places to visit and the best restaurants in the local area.
We shall be returning again one day as we have definitely found a little gem here.
Firstly let me say the lovely photos on here do not do this place justice - it is so beautiful - it really does need to be seen to be believed!
Our party ranged from aged 10 years to 75, and we rented both Le Petite Maison (perfectly spacious for myself, husband, two boys and our eldest son and his girlfriend) and Le Pigeonnaire (for my in-laws to have their own space when required) - well, what a perfect set up!
This was our most relaxing holiday to date, offering us everything we had hoped for and so much more.
On our first night Helen had reserved a table for us at Fleur d'Eau (also recommended), but after that we really enjoyed family meals together at the many locations (depending on if you wanted sun or shade) in Le Petite Cotes - the children particularly enjoyed a bbq followed by a game of boules.
There is so much to do on site (and we didn't do all of it as we never got out on the bikes) that even though there is plenty to see in nearby areas we often chose to stay put.
It was a pleasure to meet James and Helen whom are just lovely and I think add to the magic of the place - they were so helpful - they would recommend places to visit / local events that we wouldn't of known about otherwise and I felt really went above and beyond! Despite always being on hand if needed it's like my son said, "It's like we're in our own world here, I love it"!!
Our eldest likened the pool area to something that Ronaldo would have!
Precious memories were made - thank you James and Helen and we hope to see you again next year.
I cannot recommend this property enough!
What a lovely review - thank you so much - we felt quite choked reading it! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all - model guests and an excellent decision to stay in both La Petite Maison and Le Pigeonnier. Thank you for the aperos - much appreciated - we look forward to seeing you all again at Petites Cotes. Warmest wishes xx
Beautiful cottage with excellent facilities
La Petite Maison delivered absolutely everything it promised to.
The cottage was full of character, felt very spacious and was a home from home. The pool area was huge and sunny and the pool was probably the largest and best we have had on a holiday. It was so peaceful lying by or swimming in the pool but we also loved being able to play badminton, table tennis and use the basket ball hoop. We used the BBQ several times and loved the many outside tables to eat at depending on the time of day and the weather. The gardens were spectacular and vast and our children and dogs enjoyed the space and freedom.
The area around La Petite Maison was absolutely stunning and we saw hardly any other tourists which was a big plus point for us. Verteillac, only a 5 minute drive away, had everything we needed. A very well stocked general store, great butchers, amazing bakery and a really lovely bar/restaurant that we ate at several times. We also managed to fit in Kayaking twice during our stay which was inexpensive, local and great fun.
Helen and James the owners were an absolute pleasure to meet and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They were next door if we needed them but never intruded and we had a week of really special family time. We would return to La Petite Maison in a heartbeat and couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Thank you Helen and James xx
Thank you so much for your really positive review (and apologies for not having responded sooner....I know I should have done before!). It is very helpful for us to have feedback from people (particularly families) who stay in La Petite Maison. I also like the way you said "next door" you being in the 300 year old cottage where the family would almost certainly have slept and us being in the barn house which was for the animals!
Please do come back it was a pleasure.
