Harold's Farm is located on the side of Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park. It faces south with long range views of the Kinder valley. The farmhouse has recently undergone a major refurbishment but retains many original features including exposed oak beams and original stone flag floors. There are log burning stoves and underfloor heating, two bathrooms with under-tile heating and a clean and practical kitchen. There are many walking and cycling trails and Hayfield village (location for the BBC series 'The Village') is nearby with several pubs, small shops and cafes. Please note that parking is limited to 2 cars - Harold's Farm is not suitable for large gatherings or parties.

About Michael Whyatt
I was born in the Kinder Valley and I return here as often as I can. The property is looked after by our housekeeper but I am available if needed.
Michael Whyatt purchased this Farmhouse in 1995
Why Michael Whyatt chose Hayfield
It is a truly unspoilt example of a traditional long Derbyshire hill farm. The location is as good as you will find anywhere in the Peak District.

Great house within lovely surroundings.
The house was great for our 3 night visit. We had an enjoyable and comfy stay. A garden would make this house perfect. The living room could do with a good clean to the carpets and rug and a new sofa which is past its best.
Lovely holiday....Harold's Farm so comfortable and well equipped
Setting is amazing
We had a great week
Home from home
A perfect place to have family together from Scotland, London and Manchester to celebrate two birthdays and our first grandchild. The house was warm and well equipped and our family party felt like we were at home. The owner was friendly and very helpful as soon as we arrived and we felt welcome immediately. Walking from the house was easily accomplished and the views superb. All in all everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit and came away refreshed and revitalised!
The Farming Life Has Never Been Better
This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay when in the Peak District. We spent a month in England (London, Peak District, Lake District, York), and this was our favorite place. The farmhouse is beautiful, very roomy, warm, smartly appointed with modern amenities, and perfect for an exploration of the Park and environs.
For hiking, it's a paradise. You walk right out your door, as Bilbo Baggins said, and you never know what adventure awaits you. The Kinder Scout trail, a magnificent 7 mile loop, literally passes right in front of your door. Hikers come from all around to walk these trails, and it's all in your backyard. You feel as though you're deep in the countryside, away from the tourists, and experiencing the authentic Peak District. We just loved it.
The farmhouse itself was extra roomy for the 2 of us, but could easily accommodate a large, extended family. In fact, it was that cosy atmosphere that made the one day that it rained hard enough to discourage hiking as enjoyable and memorable as any day of outdoor adventuring. The kitchen was perfectly set up for serious cooking, the front parlor and the TV room were very homey, with great cable choices and a dining table big enough for a good sized family. The three bedrooms upstairs were comfortable and each afforded a grand view to wake up to. The bathrooms' heated floors, and a very large tub, were an extra bonus.
Finally, if you are Jane Austen fans like us, you are a short drive away from Lyme Park (Pemberley from the BBC series). Give yourself a whole day to walk the grounds and visit the manor. Also Chatsworth House (Pemberley from the Kiera Knightly version and Death Comes to Pemberley) is a 3/4 hour drive away.
Great place to stay
A lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner is also very helpful. We will be going back.
Great location. Nice accommodation
The area is great for hiking or mountain biking but you can also enjoy days out to Chatsworth House and Bakewell (1 hour by car) the caves of Castleton (45 minutes) or visit the city of Manchester (45 minutes).
