Situated about 4 miles north of San Pedro town, the home is within easy distance of fishing, taking the island ferry into town for shopping and night life or further north up the island to great restaurants and quaint bars. The Villa sits in the middle of 5 private homes faces directly onto the ocean and is surrounded by lush tropical plants and flowers which add to the privacy and serenity of the location.

Home for us is in Canada. Originally from Quebec and Ontario we now live in the western part of the country in Vancouver British Columbia. While Vancouver offers great weather and sits on the ocean we spend many cold nights dreaming of getting back to Ambergris Caye and the warm tropical breezes. We both work in the restaurant industry and are avid divers spending every minute we can in the water! We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay at Coral Caye Villa and come back to see us often!
Deborah Gagnon purchased this house in 2009
Having traveled to Belize we fell in love with the people the country and the diving! We then researched the many dive sites surrounding Belize and discovered Ambergris Caye. After two days on the island we were hooked. The gentle nature of the people the beauty of the island and the variety of things to do and see along with the ability to de-stress instantly captured our hearts. From there we decided to look at homes and contacted Chris and Amanda at Sunrise Reality. Chris took us to see the property and when we walked in the door at Coral Caye we knew we were home! We love being in Ambergris, hate to leave it and spend most days wishing we were back! We’re sure you will agree that La Isla Bonita is aptly named and that you will also fall in love with this little tropical island gem in the Caribbean Sea!
We love the people the tranquility and the warm ocean breezes that come through the French doors on the balcony. We enjoy lying in the hammock lazily swinging back and forth while reading; BBQ'ing fresh local fish caught only hours before and the amazing diving and snorkeling right at our doorstep. We’ve made some great new discoveries at the local restaurants and some wonderful new friends on the island as well. A favorite place to go is the Mamba restaurant just north of the house on the beach and also the Rojo.
My 16-year-old son and I spent a week at Coral Caye Villa in the Caye Villas complex, about 4 miles north of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. We had a great stay in every respect. The villa itself is lovely -- clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and well appointed. David, the caretaker for the five-villa complex, and his wife do an amazing job keeping the pool immaculately clean and the grounds looking beautiful. The smiling presence of Elvis, possibly the world's friendliest night watchman, provides added peace of mind, although we never had any sense that security was an issue to be concerned about whatsoever. Everyone we met in San Pedro was extremely polite, helpful, and friendly.
We rented a golf cart for the week, in order to go back and forth between the villa and San Pedro. The road is rutted and bumpy, but it's an easy trip between the quiet and peacefulness of the villa and the hustle-and-bustle of San Pedro.
There is a small store with some staples just a short walk from the villa, and there are a few nice, casual restaurants just up the beach. Other than those options, meals require driving or taking the water taxi into San Pedro, where there are many restaurants, grocery stores, and other shops.
Ambergris Caye in general, and Coral Caye Villa in particular, is ideally suited to experience Belize's amazing coastline and barrier reef -- whether for snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, boating, jetskiing, etc.
Two things to note, which we were not aware of: (1) The presence of the offshore reef means there are basically no waves on the beach of Ambergris Caye, just shallow, lapping water, which is lovely, just not the beach experience we were expecting. (2) During our stay, the coastline was inundated with seagrass, which made the beach in front of the villa less pleasant than it would otherwise be. This is apparently something that happens for at least a month, sometimes more, around April each year. It seemed to be unusually problematic this year, with everyone up and down the island trying to deal with seagrass, including figuring out where to put it once they removed it from the beaches.
Outstanding property to enjoy your well earned time off. We ended up spending our 11 days mainly relaxing on property with daily ventures to the many outstanding restaurants north and south for lunch and or dinner despite have good intentions to venture about. The property is perfect and left us with no desire to venture any further than where the rental golf cart took us. With only five private villas on the property, we truly felt like we had the place for ourselves most of the time! Countless hours lounging about soaking up the breezy warm weather. The pool was perfect! David, the onsite property manager is a master at maintaining pools. Very clean and we had to ask what chemicals were used as there was zero chlorine noticed. David ensured everything on the property was above all expectations. The every other day housekeeping was above and beyond! Taking care of the what little laundry and dishes we had was greatly appreciated. David's wife delivered freshly picked flowers every few days.
We have done numerous VRBOs and was surprised that the fridge was 100% empty. We have always found condiments, dressings, miscellaneous things and on many occasions a bottle or two of adult beverages left from previous guests. The St Thomas property we rented last year had almost a full bar on the counter. I partook some and left some for others to enjoy. VRBO people are the greatest !.
I highly recommend this property if quiet, privacy and solitude suite you while being located at one of the most gorgeous places on earth.
Excellent villa. Very well managed by Brittany (agent) and David (on site groundskeeper). Great for two couples.
We all loved it. Look forward to a return visit.
Coral Caye Villa was ideal location for my big birthday celebration. The owner and her team were exceptional from start to finish. We were picked up at San Pedro airport and taken to villa on time -- and given the opportunity to do some grocery shopping and to arrange for a golf cart rental en route. I recommend guests do both. David, the onsite property manager, was also outstanding providing both prompt and professional services. The villa is beautiful with working modern appliances and bottled water included. Nothing beats the balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. I spent most mornings there watching the sun rise and taking in the rest of the spectacular view. I highly recommend this villa!
We couldn't have found a vacation property more suited to us. Only two of the 5 houses on the property were occupied when we were there, so it felt like a private resort. The home is beautifully decorated and filled with thoughtful touches for guests. It is so spacious and comfortable - perfect for two couples. We turned off the AC and enjoyed the fresh air for our entire stay.We enjoyed being north of the bustle of San Pedro, and found no need to go to town. The small market within walking distance was very well stocked. We spent most of our time relaxing by the beach or pool. The caretaker David was very helpful and always ready to answer any questions. We rented a golf cart which was great for exploring the area nearby. We ate breakfast and lunch at the house, and ventured out for dinner most nights. Particular kudos to Mambo and Rojo Lounge. We took the golf cart all the way to "the end of the road" north to Tranquility Bay, stopping for a drink with Chris at El Norte Bar. Explored the La Provisiones development just north of us, which has a tower overlook with a marvelous 360 view. Snorkeling was very close by - only a 15 minute boat trip out from the house - the coral reef seemed very healthy and was teeming with life.
We enjoyed our stay everything was great. The house was really nice. Loved the ocean breeze and the tamales where excellent. He does come early. David was wonderful and helped make our stay great. Elvis watch over the villa at night. Nice guy. The house is the perfect location. Nice and quite, great pool. The bar up the beach was great place to hang out and eat when they are open to the public. We would recommend a golf cart. Secret Beach is well worth the ride. The market has moved. It is about a mile from the villa. The cost to cross the bridge into town is $5 round trip but there are a lot of places to go before you reach town. The Truck Stop had good food. It has four different vendors a bar and outside seating. We are hoping to return next
year. Thank for sharing your home with us.
