About Judith Magill and Michael Magill
We are Judith and Michael Magill. We are semi retired and live on this same property near the cabin. We've taken on a huge remodeling project here at the former Sonora Pass Resort. This cabin was an old logging office that was moved here long ago. I was also a donut shop at one time. We bought it because we wanted to save this place, which is remembered by a lot of locals as being a great place to bring friends. A second cabin called the Coyote Cabin is also available as a vacation rental. A third rental is currently under construction and will be completed by Summer 2019. That will be the Kingfisher Cabin. Lots of wild birds come to our pond and the Kingfisher is a common visitor. We love upgrading this property. Both of us are creative souls and hopefully our guests will notice the effort we've put into this lovely place.
Judith Magill and Michael Magill purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Judith Magill and Michael Magill chose Long Barn
This property is beloved by all local residents. It's very attractive and many people have great memories of celebrating family occasions here. Sadly it became rundown over the years and sat empty until we found it. Our plans will bring it up to a high standard of lodging for people who want a dependably attractive, clean and safe place to bring their friends and family. There is great potential here, and we will be continuing remodeling our other potential units over the next couple of years. One of our former guests wrote a positive review and remarked that we are located on the road. This is true, but the cabin is 220 feet off the road. This access lows us to stay open when other lodgings may have limited access due to snow, ice and steep drives.
What makes this Cabin unique
Wild Canadian Geese nest in the Spring and hatching is in mid April usually. Many bird species. Plowing snow for access in winter. Noisy frog songs. Great star gazing. Skiing and winter sports activities are close by. All types of wildlife pass through quietly at night including bears, fox, cougars, coyotes etc. Private parking off street Dead end roads for walking dogs or just walking yourself. Kids are able to ride bikes on our roads provided a parent is nearby. Campfires may be set up when requested but sometimes the fire danger is too high during Summer months. Great access to hwy 108 even on the snowiest days. Fenced yard for the kids or dogs.

Was a nice cozy lil cabin. The queen bed could use an update very uncomfortable .lil closer to neighbors than expected. But very quiet a d lived the fenced yard for dog
Thank you for the input. I've been considering a mattress replacement in this cabin and this is the first time I've heard it called uncomfortable. Sorry you think so. Perhaps it's time to change that one because comfort is so important.
Yes we're in a rural neighborhood of mainly second homes and some permanent homes. Everyone's is very respectful and conscientious about privacy as you probably noticed. Our property is renovated from an old restaurant and motel. It's a compound of buildings that were about to fall down, but we rescued it and still have plans for more renovation in the future. The cabins aren't spread far apart on this 3 acres but it works fine for what we're doing here. We're just providing comfortable spaces for people to come enjoy the mountains. Thank you for coming and we hope to see you again soon.
Overall property was really nice just didn't realize so close to the road and the one bathroom in-home had to go through a bedroom to get to
Thank you for your comments. It's important to read about the potential rentals in the listing before actually reserving one. Everything is spelled out clearly so there are no surprises. The highway is about 250 feet away from the cabin and normally not a problem for our guests. One can hear cars with the windows open but not much when they're closed. At night the road is empty and very quiet.
Thank you for coming. We hope to see you again sometime soon.
Very relaxing thank you
I was looking for a quiet place to unplug for a couple days. No cell, no TV, no Internet. This cabin was cute and quaint, and not too far way from a good grocery store (Twain Harte). Beautiful place, just off the highway.
Thank you for the great review. We enjoyed having you here and we're so glad you enjoyed the place. We welcome you back anytime.
Nice accommodations. Ondemand hot water was a challenge. Loved the rustic cabin feel and close to Pinecrest Lake. Suggestions: for those they may stay in....TV would be nice. Thanks
Thanks for the nice review. We're glad it was comfortable for you. If we put satellite TVs in the cabins we would have to raise our prices. Right now our places are affordable for most people. We do hope you visit us again soon.
It was very nice. Just didnt like being that close to the hwy.
Thank you for your kind review. In this busy season we definitely notice the increase in Rvs, trailers and boats on the road. There are a lot of tourist destinations uphill from us. We do mention this in our listings.
We are located rurally but most activities are within 10 miles. Winter sports such as cross country skiing and snowshoeing are right outside the door.
Hiking, biking, can be done here with many trails within walking distance.
YOSEMITE PARK ENTRANCE is 1.5 DRIVING HOURS AWAY.
There are many popular fishing locations very nearby and our own pond can be used for casting. We ask that hooks are barbless and fish are released unharmed.
Ice skating rink is open through the winter starting on Thanksgiving Day in Long Barn Village.
The local Hospital is @20 miles away in Sonora.
Horseback riding is very popular in this region and there are many trails through the forest. We would consider keeping horses if they have their own portable corral.
Water sports of all kinds are available in many locations nearby in large lakes and reservoirs.
Our cabin is central to all these activities. Access is good all year.
