So peaceful, with beautiful views and multiple comfy lounging areas.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place. It has a lovely elevated deck overlooking trees and shrubs. We spotted a few early morning deer while enjoying coffee on the deck, and relaxed with our wine and cheese in the evening, enjoying the serenity of the surroundings. We also laid out on the lounge chairs on the separate patio area at night time, taking in thousands of stars and the frog music of the night. We even saw one spectacular, memorable shooting star. After a day of wine tastings, we soaked our weary bodies in the hot tub under a sprawling tree. Inside, the studio was very nice with tv, coffee maker, and a comfy bed. Everything was clean and as advertised. The wifi was not connecting on the morning in which we were leaving, but I believe that was problematic in the entire area, as we experienced similar disconnects in other wifi spots. We highly recommend this place.

Nice apartment attached to owners home in great location for Sonoma County vacation

  • 4 of 5

This studio apartment is on the lower floor of the owners' $1M+ home which is perched on a steep hillside on picturesque Chalk Hill. Within an easy drive of all Napa/Sonoma destinations, but also away from it all. Minutes from the beautiful Healdsburg and Windsor downtowns and Santa Rosa conveniences. The owners offered help if we needed it, but being very familiar with the area, we didn't ask for any. So they left us alone to enjoy our 4 day stay. The rental includes a private paved parking spot directly below with private stairs up to the unit. The apartment is as advertised by the owners, and has everything you need as long as you're not planning to do any gourmet cooking. Our "complaints" were very minor. One is that you can hear footsteps on the floor above--probably because their floors are tile or wood, but the owners were otherwise very quiet and kept normal sleeping hours. Someone else below mentioned the privacy concern. The apartment is connected to the main house by 2 inside doors, one which you can lock and the other up some stairs but covered at the apartment level by a curtain. The curtain is right at the entrance to the bathroom, so you must "trust" that the owner will not surprise you by opening their door at an inconvenient time. They said they wouldn't and did not, but that would be one worthwhile change to the unit--a lockable door there for better privacy and the feeling of security. Otherwise, we really liked the place and found it to be a good value. Clean, well kept, nice bed and furniture. Adequate kitchenette. Good bathroom and shower. Full walk-in closet though some of the space was occupied by the owners' things. All considered, we'd recommend it and will likely come back again.

Relaxing, quiet spot

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 3 night stay. The location is lovely, so quiet. The balcony was pleasant, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or afternoon glass of wine. Julie and Tony were helpful hosts and gave us some great tips. The hike in Foothills Regional Park was just fantastic. We did cook our breakfasts however the two burner electric hot plate is not adequate for a meal preparation, something we enjoy doing. We would return!

Owner's Response: We both truly enjoyed meeting you and so happy to hear you had a wonderful stay, and also enjoyed the hike at Foothill Regional Park, its such a lovely park and we enjoy too the lakes and views, quite nice too. Thanks for bringing the two burner electric hot plate to our attention, as we have been meaning to update that right away and will do so immediately. Yes, we certainly would enjoy your return and a glass of wine with you both. Thanks again, Julie and Tony

Perfect Location and Great Price

  • 3 of 5

Overall my husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The room was exactly how it is pictured. The room itself was clean and roomy. It was defiantly a plus to have a small kitchen area. Unfortunately, there are a few negatives.

The largest negative was that the room doesn't have air conditioning. While it wouldn't be a problem for those who visit in the cooler seasons, we were here when it was 95 degrees. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep because it was so warm. If the room did have air conditioning, it would have to have been monitored by an upstairs thermostat that we did not have access to. So as far as temperature, we had no control . Maybe I missed this in the description, but pointing this out should be required. Also, the footsteps. I had read in prior reviews that this was irritating to people, I never thought it would bother me as much as it did. You can hear everything from upstairs. Almost every morning I was woken due to people walking around upstairs. Lastly, all the coffee cups and wine glasses were dirty. We arrived in the mid to late evening our first night and hoped to share a glass of wine to kick off our anniversary weekend. Out of about 10ish wine glasses not one of them were clean. All of them had dried wine in the bottom. Almost as if someone drank out of them and put them right back in the cabinet-coffee mugs were the same. Dish soap was abiliable to wash them so it wasn't the end of the world, but it was a bit frustrating. I would like to note that the owners of the home had temporary renters upstairs. They had been housesitting for the owners for the last three months. So, I'm not sure who was responsible for preparing our room and checking to make sure things (like the dishes) were clean.

If you read prior reviews about the privacy concern, I would not worry. We never experienced any issues. It would be nice to have an actual door between the hall to the main house and the bathroom rather than just a curtain. But overall, It wasn't an issue for us.

Would we revisit? During the cooler weather seasons, we would love to revisit. The price is unbeatable and location is wonderful.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. We’re sorry to hear that your stay at the studio was not as pleasant as it should have been. The house does not have AC, which is more the rule exception in our area, although it could be useful on rare occasions,. The downstairs of the house usually stays about 10+ degrees cooler than the rest of the house and can be kept at temperatures in the low 70s with the use of the ceiling fan, and the temperature usually drops down to the 50s in the evening even during our very brief mini heat waves. So we are surprised to hear this, as it is the first complaint of this kind. Your comment with regards to the dishes is well taken. Unfortunately we weren’t here to do a final inspection, even though it is the duty of our housekeeping person to make sure that all the dishes and utensils are clean and stored away in an orderly manner. More often than not, people wash the dishes and store them away. There are 17 coffee cups and 12 wine glasses in the studio, but it is certainly unacceptable for even one of those to be dirty. Going forward we will make sure check this. We’ve made many improvements to the studio over the years, including building a large designated patio, while keeping the rate unchanged for the last five years, and we thank you for recognizing that. Best regards, The owners

Cozy place in a beautiful setting

  • 3 of 5

The studio is nice and clean and pretty spacious. The property itself is beautiful and the jacuzzi tub was a nice perk although we didn't take advantage of it. The location is quiet and only 15 minutes from downtown. Our one big complaint is the house was not well insulated so we were able to hear all the noise from inside. The owners were away and had renters in the main house. They walked around the house at all hours of the night. It was like they never slept. Their heavy footsteps kept us up all night the entire time we were there. If it weren't for those people we would've enjoyed our stay much more.
