Difficult sharing space with owners

  • 2 of 5

The property itself is nice and comfortable. My biggest annoyance was boot heels (at least it sounded like this) on the floor above us awakening us at 11:30 at night. The pacing went on for another 45 minutes. Kept us awake. We felt that it wasn't considerate to the renters downstairs. A hallway door that connected the renters and owners spaces was left open a few times. Not sure why this would even be opened, but it infringed on our privacy, especially since they had a direct line of sight into the bathroom. Because of the one night of unrest, I wouldn't come back. It left a bad impression. As well, the outdoor space was unkempt; the hot tub was not functional. Paint cans were left on the barbecue.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry to hear about this, as our friend had a flat tire and we had to deal with this at a late hour, we are very sorry to have disturbed this weekend, and its never happened before. Best regards, T

Great for a weekend in the wine country

  • 5 of 5

Very nicely appointed studio with kitchenette and lovely private porch and a hot tub on the premises. I would caution that if you are three people, there is a fold-down futon available in a room used as an office that is on the same level- this is not very comfortable and not at the standard of the studio, which is otherwise well done.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very nice review and so glad you enjoyed it here! We are in the process of getting ready for spring updo's and will definitely be totally remodeling the extra room with the futon in there, and purchasing all new bedding and furniture, and will make sure that its super comfy when we have 3 folks. Many thanks again, Julie and Tony

Amazing Paradise in ChalkHill Valley

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in this suite. The accommodation was just as promoted in the ad. :) Julie and Tony were great. They provided us with privacy, but also provided great suggestions for our time in Napa Valley. I totally recommend to check-out this amazing place.

Clean, comfortable & quiet

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at a VRBO & we could not have been more pleased. We met Tony when we arrived, who gave us a few winery suggestions as well as a restaurant in Healdsburg. The studio was clean, great bedding & comfortable bed. We were able to cook breakfast on the hot plate, which was convenient. We stayed 3-nights & it was nice of Julie & Tony to empty our trash, provide water bottles in the frig & replace our towels, which we did not expect. Having stayed at hotels in Napa & Sonoma, this was such a better option for us and great wineries in the Chalk Hill area. We definitely would stay here during future visits. Next time will take advantage of the patio & maybe the hot tub!

Nice apartment attached to owners home in great location for Sonoma County vacation

  • 4 of 5

This studio apartment is on the lower floor of the owners' $1M+ home which is perched on a steep hillside on picturesque Chalk Hill. Within an easy drive of all Napa/Sonoma destinations, but also away from it all. Minutes from the beautiful Healdsburg and Windsor downtowns and Santa Rosa conveniences. The owners offered help if we needed it, but being very familiar with the area, we didn't ask for any. So they left us alone to enjoy our 4 day stay. The rental includes a private paved parking spot directly below with private stairs up to the unit. The apartment is as advertised by the owners, and has everything you need as long as you're not planning to do any gourmet cooking. Our "complaints" were very minor. One is that you can hear footsteps on the floor above--probably because their floors are tile or wood, but the owners were otherwise very quiet and kept normal sleeping hours. Someone else below mentioned the privacy concern. The apartment is connected to the main house by 2 inside doors, one which you can lock and the other up some stairs but covered at the apartment level by a curtain. The curtain is right at the entrance to the bathroom, so you must "trust" that the owner will not surprise you by opening their door at an inconvenient time. They said they wouldn't and did not, but that would be one worthwhile change to the unit--a lockable door there for better privacy and the feeling of security. Otherwise, we really liked the place and found it to be a good value. Clean, well kept, nice bed and furniture. Adequate kitchenette. Good bathroom and shower. Full walk-in closet though some of the space was occupied by the owners' things. All considered, we'd recommend it and will likely come back again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for choosing to stay at our studio and thank you for the kind review. We are fully aware of some of the issues you pointed out. However, both hallway doors can be locked and there are usually no privacy issues. The additional office/ guest room is made available to guests if they need it, but it not used by the owner when guests are present. We apologize for the misunderstanding.
