Yackadandah hidden gem
Dog-friendly cottage that looks out upon a hillside garden is a lovely find: it had enough room for the Golden Retrievers and a very comfortable bed. It IS a bit of a walk into town, so handy to have a car! We arrived when the weather was turning cold, so appreciated the reverse cycle heating. The crisp mornings were great to view from the veranda that wraps around the house, sitting out drinking our tea. We wanted to explore Yackadandah and found it a very lovely community, with much to offer visitors, from artists’ work to unique recycled goods. It’s also only a half hours drive to Beechworth and perhaps an hour out of Bright. That allowed us to explore the local wineries and breweries. For us, the only downside of the cottage was the kitchen facilities, as there was only a microwave and an electric stovetop. Luckily our host offered her oven on one occasion that helped us have a nice meal at home. It’s certainly worth another visit!
A beautiful little cottage with a wonderful view and gardens to walk through.
Very easy to find. The cottage was clean and tidy with a small fenced garden for the dog to explore. Lovely light breakfast supplied. I will be glad to stay there again.
enjoyed my stay and good location.
Enjoyed my stay. A good location location, felt off the beaten track yet convenient to local attractions. Good for traveling with a dog, fenced yard and appreciated being able to shut off and secure the verandah also able to wonder through gardens. If you like to sit outside on the verandah to have a drink, read etc pack some mosquitoe repelant, they were in abundance.
A lovely little cottage/bungalow, although a little dated, set in a large child friendly garden with little hidden sculpture treasures for the kids to find. Cottage was well equipped and very clean. Sofa couch was made for our arrival. Lovely views across to the ranges. Daddy day care and 2 kids under 8 years had a very enjoyable 2 night stay exploring Beechworth, learning all about Ned Kelly and the local wineries. Jan was very friendly and hospitable.
Great little cabin, clean, comfortable and quiet
We have now stay here twice. The first time was last winter, this time at the end of summer. Thanks to the split system both times the cabin was very comfortable to stay in. A good continental breakfast was supplied. Overall very clean and comfortable with great views across the garden and beyond.
Jan and Chris are very welcoming and the communication for the booking is easy.
We took our dogs with us with prior arrangements with Jan, the cabin has its own secure yard.
We will be be back for a 3rd visit sometime.

Old world B & B
Old fashioned & rather tired B&B just outside Yackandandah. Whilst the view is lovely, the cottage is overlooked by the owners’ house so not very private. We were 2 singles who didn’t want to share a bed, but our host insisted we hadn’t paid the extra for the sofa bed to be made up! Hospitality at its finest! Is it value for money? Maybe if you take your pets which we didn’t.
