About Phil North
Following a teenage hitch-hiking trip round France some (OK, many!) years ago, I vowed I would return to the Ardèche! I finally made it...hope you will love it too!
Phil North purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Phil North chose Saint-Sauveur-de-Cruzières
Well, of course the location is perfect for a visit to the region, and we also enjoy the benefits of the village...the friendly village baker is across the road. There are trails to hike and run from the gate. And we were seduced by the ancient stone buildings, also great views...did I mention the village wine...?
What makes this Cottage unique
Our home is a little stone hamlet with a fabulous garden...we love it...and so do our guests, many return every year!

Gite in the Ardeche
We had a lovely week with Phil & Tina who were the perfect hosts. Our gite was perfect, with our own covered terrace and gas barbecue. Very comfortable with all amenities required.
Top quality accommodation and beautiful location
We stayed at Le Fleuriste and found the property ideal for a couple with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The property has been maintained to a high standard but particular mention must go to the beautiful garden and pool which made it such a lovely place to relax. The village is well placed for visiting local towns and villages and there is an excellent Boulanger at the gate of the property!
Mooie, goed verzorgde gite
Le mas de la Source heeft vijf mooie gites die van alle gemakken zijn voorzien. Liggen heerlijk rustig met een mooie tuin en zwembad. Een echte aanrader!
Beautiful gite, great pool
We spent a very happy week staying in La Patisserie. The gite is very well equipped with a super shower and a well thought out kitchen. We spent most of our time outside around the wonderful pool area as the weather was particularly hot. Having an honesty bar next to the pool was a great idea as we could get cold drinks easily whilst relaxing by the pool. The only issue was having to hang on to the sun umbrella when the wind blew strongly, however Phil had warned us that we might have to do that!
The provision of a mini Weber BBQ was great as it made small BBQs for 2 an easy option. We loved all the flowers in the pots by our patio and the gardens which are very well looked after. Another plus was the boulangerie which is opposite the gates to the property, fresh croissants for breakfast every day. Phil made us very welcome and was around if you needed him but otherwise was happy to leave us to enjoy our holiday
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the small market town of Barjac which offered a wide range of restaurants and a superb market on a Friday. Barjac is less than 10 minutes drive from the gite.
Le Mas de la Source is a beautiful property, well maintained by the owners and surrounded by stunning countryside.
Le Mas de la Source, a great find.
We stayed in the beautiful Le Mas de la Source in Saint-Saveur- de-Cruzieres and were delighted with our choice. This is a beautiful area of France and Tina and Phil, the owners, enthusiastically provided us with a wealth of information and suggestions to enable us to enjoy the area.
The Gites were of the highest quality and exceptionally well fitted out with the addition of BBQ's, patio tables and chairs.
The gardens and swimming pool are thoughtfully laid out and there is even a boules area to brush up your skills.
This has to be the best selection of Gites we have stayed in and nothing was too much trouble for Tina and Phil. We highly recommend this collection of beautifully converted buildings on the edge of the village.
Holidays don't come better than this!
From the moment that we arrived in the little un-spoilt village of Saint -Sauveur-de- Cruzieres in this beautiful part of France, we knew that we had discovered a small corner of paradise. Le Mas de La source is a truly beautiful collection of gites that has been carefully and lovingly restored by the owners, Tina and Phil. Every little detail has been thought of with holidays and enjoyment in mind. Each gite comes with its own patio or balcony, beautifully decorated with pot plants and climbers. It's the little touches that the owners have thought of that make le mas so unique and incomparable with anywhere we have stayed before. For example, the little barbeques, patio tables and chairs that are provided with each gite, the bar by the very inviting pool and the "terrain de boules" within the stunning gardens. What is very clear is that the owners really love living in this part of France and they want to share the whole experience with you. Le Mas was chosen by the owners with holidays in mind and what they have created is breathtaking. Sit down and have a drink with Tina and Phil when you arrive and they will pass on all their local knowledge and tips on what to see and do in this fantastic part of France. The accommodation itself was impeccably clean and of a very high standard. Comfortable beds, powerful showers, flat screen TVs etc. We cannot recommend this place highly enough…

Enjoy the warmth and sunshine of Southern France, relax by our large pool and canoe or kayak the famous Gorges de l'Ardeche. Stay in one of our comfortable, character gites and you are well placed to enjoy a very special holiday. The Gorges de l'Ardeche are an easy 30 minute drive, Avignon and the Palais des Papes is nearby. The area enjoys many other interesting attractions and colourful markets.
Our village, Saint-Sauveur-de-Cruzieres has many old stone buildings and a small river flowing through its heart. Across the road from our Mas and gites is the boulangerie and we are a few steps from two bar - restaurants. We overlook the countryside with its vineyards and olive groves and dramatic hills in the near distance. Our climate is Mediterranean and we enjoy plenty of sunshine.
Our stone buildings resemble an old hamlet and are centred round its courtyards and a small spring that flows through the property, our colourful garden has lavender, olives, thyme, rosemary and the spectacular Oleander.
It would take many visits to see all the local attractions. There are grottos and caves to explore, plenty of castles and medieval villages and towns with their colourful markets to choose from.
The area is very popular with walkers & cyclists.
The Cevennes are a short drive away. Here, serious hikers can face challenging trails through the rugged and dramatic scenery.
The rivers Ardeche, Ceze, and Chassezac all have gorges to visit, swim or canoe through.
Other Activities: Canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, sightseeing, visiting markets & just relaxing!
